In order to get muttator to work with Thunderbird 38, do the following (in any linux shell; you need to have git and possibly other things installed):

`git clone https://github.com/vimperator/vimperator-labs.git`

Go to muttator dir and do `make xpi`.

You will find a working xpi in the downloads folder.

Using this addon since years now, I only had slight hiccups during the most recent update to TB 24. Muttator didn't work anymore.

However, I just recompiled the plugin (it still is version 1.1), removed the old one and installed the fresh one and it works again! To do the same (on linux):

hg clone https://vimperator-labs.googlecode.com/hg/ vimperator-labs
cd vimperator-labs
make xpi

Then you'll have the xpi in the download folder. More info here: http://www.vimperator.org/developerinfo
