If you use a LDAP directory at work, you certainly have already been confronted to this problem: once back at home, you want to write an email, and when you type the address mail, Thunderbird try to reach the LDAP directory, blocking itself for a moment.
With this addon, you will be able to simply switch on / off the LDAP autocompletion, without needing to go into preferences.
