Thank you! For MAC Thunderbird I had to download version 1.2.1 (from the main page but you have to scroll down, it's not the highest version) on 11/7/19 - then add it manually from my finder. I am not expert, don't know if there was a better way but am adding this information for similarly computer-challenged folks.
