I've been very happy with this add-on for some time, but have had some recent problems. My questions are:
1. I'm using Firefox 20.0.1 and found that MAF 2.0.9 would not work. When I upgraded to MAF 3.0a3, it works. Why is this not made clear on the MAF web site?
2. What is the difference between MAF (as on maf.mozdev.org) and MAF w/MHT and Faithful Save (as on addons.mozilla.org)? If they are the same, why are there 2 different sites, making them look different?
3.Why doesn't the Feedback page on maf.mozdev.org provide a contact for the developer? Why does the link on that page to the maf mailing list not work?
4. Using MAF 3.03a, I find that MAFF files are bigger than MHT files, and they are both much bigger than HTM files. Why is this so?
If you prefer, please reply to me at LDGraham AT iinet DOT net DOT au.

Thanks for getting in touch, I've just updated the contact information on mozdev.org after the recent mailing list downtime. I also have trouble updating distribution files on mozdev.org, so you might be experiencing unwanted differences between the two versions.

The latest version is now 3.0b1 on addons.mozilla.org. If you still have doubts about the saved file size with that version, you're welcome to provide more details through the updated Feedback page.

DEAR FRIEND,

I AM STUDENT + RESEARCHER. I WAS WONDERING FOR THIS TYPE OF ADDON AND THEN ONE DAY I SEARCH IN MOZILLA ADDONS SITE. AND I FOUND TWO ADDONS

1.Mozilla Archive Format AND 2.UnMHT

I USE BOTH THE ADDON EXTENSIVELY AND FIND Mozilla Archive Format BETTER THAN UnMHT.

BUT I FIND ONE FEATURE OF UnMHT BETTER THAN Mozilla Archive Format.

SO I KINDLY REQUEST YOU TO ADD THIS TWO FEATURE IN Mozilla Archive Format.

SUGGESTION:

AS YOU KNOW FIREFOX REMEMBERS SITE PREFERENCES. I USUALLY ZOOMS PAGE
TO BETTER READING AND VIEWING PAGES.

MOZILLA ARCHIVE FORMAT SAVES FILE LIKE
file:///N:/Current%20Affairs%20Today%20-%20Current%20Affairs%202013012.maff?web_archive_page=1

AND UNMHT SAVES FILE LIKE
unmht://unmht/file.5/N:/Current%20Affairs%20Today%20-%20Current%20Affairs%202013.mht/index.html

UNMHT ADDS PREFIX unmht://unmht/ BEFORE THE ORIGINAL SAVE PATH, SO FIREFOX ACT FOR THIS SAVED PAGES LIKE ONE PARTICULAR SITE AND REMEMBERS WHATEVER PREFERENCES WE HAVE SET FOR ONE PAGE TO ALL PAGES AND ALL FILES. I.E. ZOOM

SO MY SUGGESTION IS ADD PREFIX TO ALL SAVE PAGE ADDRESSES LIKE,

FOR EXAMPLE,

maf://mah/file:///N:/Current%20Affairs%20Today%20-%20Current%20Affairs%202013012.maff?web_archive_page=1

OR SOMETHING LIKE THIS.

I HOPE YOU WILL ADD THIS FEATURE IN MOZILLA ARCHIVE FORMAT.

THANK YOU.

The BEST extension!

ENG: Thanks to the developers for the much-needed extension for Firefox! Works without problems, open and save files very fast + easy to see which site to maintain a particular page. So I want to wish the developer success and further develop this extension. The BEST extension!

It works great, but cannot save JavaScript functionality. I want to archive a web-based presentation (e.g. using S5, reveal.js, etc) in MAFF, but the page behaviour with JavaScript is not preserved.
Test case: try to save this presentation: http://avdi.org/talks/confident-code-rubymidwest-2011/confident-code.html

Just curious why does it fail to download as soon as i close the page its to download, cant it fetch itself ?.
scrapbook works fine that way.
sorry dont have a newsreader configured on my linux yet

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (2.0.8.1-signed).

Since the add-on is saving the exact current state of the page, closing it causes the state to be lost. I'm not sure why you observed a different behavior in ScrapBook, feel free to provide more information on the support newsgroup as soon as you configure your newsreader!

The best one. It is one of my reasons I use Firefox

This should become a web standard. Having versions of this extension for other browsers would speed that right along. This is the blue cheese of Firefox extensions. Old, moldy, and delicious. Saving maff files lets me have it as old and moldy as I can handle. Yum!

Thanks for a good product.

But I am missing following features:
1. Warning if user tries to save page that has not been 100% loaded (e.g. internet was disconnected during load). By saving page, plugin does not give any message about missing images.

2. Possibility to save page as archive without opening it, but having just a link. I mean page content menu "Save Link as Archive". E.g. ScrapBook plugin can do it, but unfortunately it stores file to internal database and not to separate maff file.

Thanks for the suggestions! I'll take those into account for a future version of the add-on.

Quite useful when it comes to share the whole webpage with friends,I know I could take a full-page screenshot with other addon, but it is better to get a HTML file in which the text and image could be extracted at anytime.

Perfect! And can you add ability to save all open pages not in one archive but every page in one maff-archive - for example 27 tabs and every tab in one archive = 27 maff's ?!!

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (2.0.7.1-signed).

Thanks for the suggestion. I think that the "SaveAll!" add-on might already help in this case, though an integrated version of the same feature will also be considered for a future version of the Mozilla Archive Format add-on.

This add-on does what you hoped it would do (and what you expect it should do!) Its slick, polished and I can recommend you download it without reservation.

One last thing... if you are trying to compare it to another well known web page archive saving add-on, don't bother... it'd be like comparing "word pad" to "Word 2013"! Just Get it

Great addon! It can save pages otherwise I can't save.
Anyone can tell me what "Save Frame In Archive" does exactly do?
If someone is interested, here:
http://custombuttons.sourceforge.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=525
is how to create a button for the toolbar!

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (2.0.7.1-signed).

"Save Frame in Archive" is the counterpart of the "Save Frame" command, that allows you to save a portion of the visible content (usually, the main frame) in websites whose pages are arranged into different frames. Whether a website is using frames depends on its internal design, not on its actual appearance.

Ideal to save webpages on compact maff files and see them off-line or copy them to other place. The appearance of almost all websites is respected and is as it's shown on-line.

Great addon!!

Just one thing, though...

The icon popup in the address bar doesn't have a background on my computer, if used together with Ghostery and all other addons disabled. I don't really use that icon anyway, but you nver know.

I am using:
Firefox 15.0
Ubuntu 12.04

Sadly, it's only saving the website, but not the videos. For example on YouTube.

And yes, I am saving it as the .MAFF archive, it only creates a ~500 kb big .maff file. Even though the video player itself is being saved, but the video is not.

Only 3 Stars because it's not fullfilling everything it promises.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (2.0.6.1-signed).

I confirm that Mozilla Archive Format is not able to save video and audio from websites that don't use the HTML5 specification, because every such website handles video differently. Other, more specific add-ons may be used for that purpose, because they keep a list of video websites that are handled specially. Doing that is out of the scope of the Mozilla Archive Format add-on.
