Thanks a lot. I just upgraded to version 78 and this is the first time since thunderbird came out that I was hating it.
I really hate this whole minimalist fashion. Is there anyone who really thinks it's better? What the hell do we want with colour monitors?

Thanks so much ! There is no comparison with the default icons. I don't understand the fashion with the minimalist and material design. ugly and sad.

Thanks so much for making this icon set. Got TB 78 and could barely make out the icons. This restores so much usability. I don't see how removing colour, shade and fill cues help usability. Keep up the good work.

Thank god for this add-on/theme. My folder pane was driving me crazy after upgrading from the 60.* thunderbird. Thank you!

This fixed most of the issues I had in migrating to v78, including reducing space between lines in the message summary pane.
I wasted a lot of time trying to use the userChrome.css file to suppress the envelope icons next to the messages in the same pane (as described above)... eventually I discovered that I needed to also go to Options-General-Config.editor and toggle
toolkit.legacyUserProfileCustomisations.stylesheets
to "true"

Dear Dillinger
This module was great, but it does not work anymore with Thunderbird 78.4.0 if you want to change the color folder. You can have this option with the new update 78.4.0, but it doesn't work if Phoenity Icons is activate. Would it be possible for you to update the module ? Thank you in advance
Changing icon colors is impossible, that only works with *.svg images, and these icons are *.png images.

Die Icons sind wesentlich ansprechender als die Originalen von der 78 Version. Wenn ich noch die Farben wie von der Version 78 vorgesehen ändern kann sind sie perfekt.

I've just been trying this out even though I don't mind the standard icons. I do like the look and colour of these ones, though. Just one little issue. For my Gmail account folders, the theme doesn't recognise the "Bin" folder (UK Gmail) as a wastebin and therefore that is just assigned a standard folder icon. Other accounts with a "Deleted" folder get the correct icon. No big deal, but it would be nice to see the waste icon associated with the Bin folder.
Just confirmed. By changing my Gmail account temporarily to language English (US) , when the deleted folder is now called "Trash" and Thunderbird labels it "Deleted" , the proper wastebin icon is assifned. Change it back to English (UK) and it goes back to a standard file folder.
Thank you, Dillinger, that seems to work. Cheers for getting back to me so rapidly.
Confirmed, but I don't think this is an add-on issue, apparently Thunderbird 78 does not pick the new "Deleted" folder automatically after changing the Gmail language.
After changing the language, go to Server Settings of your Gmail account and adjust "When I delete a message" manually.

I also really like this add-on. Much better looking than the new icons introduced in TB 78. As someone else mentioned however, I would really like to see you remove the envelope icon from the subject field. There only needs be an indicator if you have replied to the message. We can already tell if a message has been read or not by whether or not it is bold. An icon is unnecessary. The indicator would be easier to see if it was just an arrow rather than an envelope with the M or whatever that is. If you don't want to change this, could you offer an option to disable this icon except for the replies?
Edit: Thanks for the code for the .css file. I really appreciate it!
The answer is no, sorry, if you want to disable this icon (reset it to default) add this to userChrome.css:
/* ..... restore default subject column icons ..... */
treechildren::-moz-tree-image(subjectCol) {
list-style-image: none !important;
}
treechildren::-moz-tree-image(subjectCol, forwarded) {
list-style-image: url("chrome://messenger/skin/icons/forward.svg") !important;
}
treechildren::-moz-tree-image(subjectCol, replied) {
list-style-image: url("chrome://messenger/skin/icons/reply.svg") !important;
}
treechildren::-moz-tree-image(subjectCol, replied, forwarded) {
list-style-image: url("chrome://messenger/skin/icons/reply-forward.svg") !important;
}
treechildren::-moz-tree-image(subjectCol, new) {
list-style-image: url("chrome://messenger/skin/icons/newmail.svg") !important;
}
treechildren::-moz-tree-image(subjectCol, imapdeleted) {
list-style-image: url("chrome://messenger/skin/icons/cancel.svg") !important;
}

Macht genau das was es soll: Bunte Icons statt der wenig brauchbaren neuen aus Version 78

Please remove the mail icon for the subject field.
It should only show an icon if you have replied to a message (not for every message).
Edit:
Thank you, this will work nicely!
I'll take 4 stars, thank you :)
As a workaround you can add this to userChrome.css:
/* ..... restore default subject column icons ..... */
treechildren::-moz-tree-image(subjectCol) {
list-style-image: none !important;
}
treechildren::-moz-tree-image(subjectCol, forwarded) {
list-style-image: url("chrome://messenger/skin/icons/forward.svg") !important;
}
treechildren::-moz-tree-image(subjectCol, replied) {
list-style-image: url("chrome://messenger/skin/icons/reply.svg") !important;
}
treechildren::-moz-tree-image(subjectCol, replied, forwarded) {
list-style-image: url("chrome://messenger/skin/icons/reply-forward.svg") !important;
}
treechildren::-moz-tree-image(subjectCol, new) {
list-style-image: url("chrome://messenger/skin/icons/newmail.svg") !important;
}
treechildren::-moz-tree-image(subjectCol, imapdeleted) {
list-style-image: url("chrome://messenger/skin/icons/cancel.svg") !important;
}

Just what I was looking for. A simple extension to replace the ugly icons in TB 78. No fluff.

Just Love the "Phoenity Icons" addon.
I am still using V68, but had delayed for a long time on V60.9.1 due to the "unfriendliness" of the GUI on the updates due to the disabling of most theme related addons.
I just adored the old classic tailorable feel of the classic FF and TB. Albeit, I felt the need to move on from FF (after 15-years) due to it's radically (for me) changes.
The "Phoenity Icons" addon is just about the only addon that I can find that brings back some of the "warm" GUI feel of the "Good-Old-Days" (15+ year period).
There is a somewhat of a compatibility issue with the "Colored Folders" addon and "Phoenity Icons" addons.
In my case, on my Desktop (WIN-10 , V2004) the "Colored Folders" presently does not work at all when Phoenity is enabled. What is strange, is that they had both been working together (with some Colored Folders limitations) for 1 or 2 days. This may have been just before the upgrade to V2004 of WIN-10, but I can not be sure at this point.
Where on my Laptop (WIN-10 , V1903 and holding-pattern), they both usually work together (with some Colored Folders limitations).
I had initially corresponded with the Phoenity developer who was very responsive and tried to help, but was also feeling the frustrations of this new Mozilla Addon world
Anyway, for me, I can comfortably use "Phoenity-icons" w/o any functionality of "Colored-Folders".
From the little info that I have read so far, I will probably NOT upgrade to the V78 world anytime soon (if ever), but that is definitely another "story".

Excellent! Better usability and comfort.
