yea, so now how do i import it into my new thunderbird portable?

WOW! It's really useful and works nicely! I would suggest that the files are saved with the same date the message has.

Sadly the addon doesn't work with saved search folders, it just prints a "no such folder" message. Creating an empty folder and copying the messages does the trick, but this is a must.
Also saving messages as HTML and/or plain text would be very nice.
I'd like to see SmartSave integrated in the TB codebase soon because mass exporting messages is one of the thins TB is really lacking. Bug 258570 "Add ability to export multiple messages to .eml format" was posted on September, 2004... but so far seems to be considered a very low priority bug.

Great tool, but a drag and drop functionality would really be a plus rather than entering the destination folder manually !

a 'would be' great tool but sometimes it just simply will not export the folders or the messages.... mind you there are tricks to make it happen and at the end I have exported more than 66000 mails without losing one single mail. I will put a note in the TB forum explaining how it worked....

I like the idea (especially since thunderbird doesn't provide an export-button per default) but it never exports all the mails (out of the 761 mails I want to export only 283 mails are actually exported)
I've read that some other people encountered similar problems and I hope there's a simple solution for them ... cause I'd like to learn it if there is one :)

To me, this is the ONE and ONLY Add-On I need for my Thunderbird. Without it, I would not use Thunderbird AT ALL! It is very good that finally somebody implemented it, even though it is some kind of standard functionality, that every mail program should include from the first release onwards (batch export of messages). Anyway, thanks a lot for the work Stefano!!

Absolutely amazing! That is exactly what I have needed and was willing to pay for. God bless you Stefano.

Thank you! Bless you! You have no idea how much help this is to me. I have to archive my e-mail due to my business and this is the fastest way to burn the darn things to a CD! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Seems to export well. The add-on is missing a small icon, however.

Works fine when you don't use the following letters and symbols in the Folder-Name (and Subfoldername): ä ö ü / \ : + ? and so on.
Funktioniert wenn in den Ordner-Namen (inkl. Unterordner) KEINE Umlaute und Sonderzeichen verwendet werden. ä ö ü / \ : + ?

great add on, but - as stated by others - it misses the import function. on a german website I found the following idea to bypass that problem:
install and use nightly_tester_tools-1.3-fx+tb+sb+sm.xpi to uncheck the compatibility test in thunderbird. Than install tb_autosave_extension-0.0.96-tb.xpi. use to import messages. Unfortunately I havent figured out how to import a complete folder of autosaved message in one gow ... but basically it works.

Sorry for the goose egg, but if it doesn't work, it shouldn't get a rating.
There is no logical explanation for the error counts of messages, it is not consistent in the error and appears to be random.
When you want to export a folder, you want to do just that, all messages, not some, not a few or a range, ALL.
It doesn't do that and therefore it doesn't work and should be taken off the board.

Assuming there'll be a patch that lets the IMAP export work, this is a great utility. Everyone should archive their e-mail, and it's impossible to do otherwise with Thunderbird. This utility works great on locally stored e-mail.

Add an import function and it gets a 10!

I am running TB2.0.0.6 and able to save 4 subfolders before it quit. No message just did nothing after selecting the save folder.
I think the problem has been located. A forward slash in the folder or subfolder name causes the problem. I took out the slash and it worked.

This works well, but it needsa couple of things for me to find it *really* useful: 1. extract attachments and save them outside of the message and 2. enable saving messages as HTML and/or plain text.
Thanks.

Great job on this, Stefano! This is a feature I've wanted for some time, and I just now found your extension. The only other thing I'd really love is the ability to IMPORT your exported messages back into a T-bird mail folder.
