Other test with the TB3 port. It works but... If I move the note, it disappears ! What can be done ?

I can create or modify an XNote, but there is no way its existence of is indicated in the messages pane. The column available, called 'Notes' does activate but its header remains grayed out and no icons appear in the column. This no matter whether an XNote was created post- or pre-TB3.
Just for now I will manually turn on the message's star icon to tell myself an XNote is there - but this will need to be worked out for other users whose usage of XNotes is more extensive than mine.

This is an excellent plugin. The TB 3 extension from http://www.froihofer.net/fileadmin/downloads/xnote-2.1.0-lf-tb3.xpi works very well. Together with tagging / GTD ideas like http://entropicprincipal.blogspot.com/2005/09/using-thunderbird-to-get-things-done.html this makes TB an excellent GTD tool. Notes are also kept if mails are moved from an IMAP account to a local folder.
Some things that would be great:
a) a Hotkey to add a note
b) a configuration where the note should initially be displayed, and its size
c) a column or tag for notes so that one can filter on mails that have notes.
Thanks and have a nice Christmas,
M

The port to TB3 works perfectly for me - no problem in reading the old notes of the previous version or in creating new notes. Thanks!

Sorry, but the port http://www.froihofer.net/fileadmin/downloads/xnote-2.1.0-lf-tb3.xpi is not perfect. In fact, when I close and restart TB, I cannot see the old notes...
Thanks anyway, it is a good start.

Thanks for making XNote for TB3 available so quickly. Using it today on my XP Machine without a hitch and it even found the XNotes I thought I had lost once I upgraded to TB3.
I work with my clients exclusively through email correspondence and use Thunderbird as a job log. XNote has proved invaluable as I can display projected deadlines, phone numbers, and specific instructions regarding each project.

Just ported this add-on to Thunderbird 3 and sent the port to the developers. Until everything will make it to this add-on site, you can download the port from http://www.froihofer.net/xnote.html

This is an excellent e-mail annotation tool, but I wish I could get it for Thunderbird 3!

Works great. Instead of just a placing a star for emails you can add a note to them so you remember exactly why you flagged it in the first place. Right-click on a message in the messages column and select XNote --> Create Note. That's it! After typing in the notepad area just click on another message and your note will still be there when you click back to the flagged message. Works great for me in TB ver 2.0.0.22
