Once again this malware installed itself on my computer from a Java update.
Why do I hate this addon so much, because It double the running temp of my CPU from 40C to 80C. I can tell when it's installed from the sound of the fan on my laptop struggling to keep it cool.
Mozilla really needs to blacklist this so called developer.

I'm studying microbiology and wanted pictures of bacteria and bacterial cultures. This was one of the most helpful search engines.
If you don't want the toolbar, add this engine to the list on Firefox.

Il est très difficile de se débarrasser de ce moteur de recherche une fois installé.
Il écarte les autres sans notre accord.

Ask.com will install itself without permission, most of the time when downloading freeware. Does so even if you unclick the "Install ask.com" option. Go to about:config, search for "ask" and "ask.com" ... choose ... right click ... reset.

I go all the way back to 1998, when it was askjeeves with the spiffy butler. I prefer it to any other search engine, because it works best to answer the question I had in my mind. It seems less crowd driven and more sensitive to the specific question. Thank you to whomever is responsible for this excellent tool.

Ask.com is good search engine. I am bit sick and tired Google.
This add-on is NOT install tool-bar. I do not know why one star review always talk about tool-bar...

Bad practices company ! DO NOT INSTALL ! See here http://www.benedelman.org/spyware/ask-toolbars/
Ask is known to install its toolbar through various spywares.

people are confused. THIS addon is the small, unobtrusive one that simply adds ask.com to the options in the search bar. The ask.com toolbar that is associated with the installation some tools is the intrusive, take-over one. THIS one i tried and it did not change my home page.

Super simple add on. I like the answers you get to questions on Ask.com, so added this to my browser for those times I have an actual question. Very convenient.
But damn, the people here screaming that this is malware should be embarrassed. It's obvious they downloaded some software, or got Firefox from a new pc, downloaded a toolbar or some other software, etc., because this add on does not automatically download. You have to click on the "Add to Firefox" link. If you did not click this link, on this page, then you got some other version of an Ask.com add on, from some other software you recently got. I see other reviewers pointed this out too.

Absolute crap - I cant believe this isn't blacklisted as malware considering that no one installs it consensually. It isn't even stable or well written malware. I can't come close to conveying my feeling about this abomination and its creators without profanity so i'm going to stop here.
Oh and here is the blacklist form as I assume i'm not the only one looking for it now.

This is a add on for the search window up at the top right of Firefox. It just makes it so you can seach ask.com from the search window just like google.com or amazon.com This is not a toolbar. I hate toolbars also I feel that a lot of them are malware and they also take up space on my screen that I Don't need them.

DO NEVER INSTALL THIS !
NE JAMAIS INSTALLER
Should be considered as a malware. It installs without any notice and is difficult to remove.

Those who gave the Ask.com add-on 5/5 stars did either get paid or.. Is just in connection with the founders of it. Or maybe they are the founders themselves or something? How can you possible think that this add-on is 5 stars worth? It suddenly installs without really telling you. The Ask-search is useless! And it's very hard to remove again sometimes. It's not always enough to click the small arrow in top right corner and press "Google.com".
This add-on should never see the light ever again.

This addon should be BANNED from Firefox completely. It installs without any notice across your PC (firefox, IE9, even opera), uninstalling won't remove it completely.
I also think this toolbar is spyware! its using a custom code as homepage so it tracks your movement etc.
WATCH OUT! DO NEVER INSTALL THIS!
@Michel its really funny to see a developer of spyware praise his own work!

The ask.com toolbar for firefox was installed without warning (I believe when I join facebook developer's program) and changed many settings in Firefox: default home page, default search engine, default keyword search engine (that is used when you type something in the address bar that is not a web address). It takes one hour to restore my system. This is definitely spyware and I'm surprised that it's not banned from Firefox plugins list.

Ask toolbar is very bad and stupid. Why? IT is not useful and it is boring. And when i remove it from remove programs I see it in my Mozilla.
Make a good remove or this will be considered as a spyware.
P.s Sorry if bad english

This was an easy to install Add-On. Just clicked 'Add to firefox' and it was ready to use. I did not get this as part of any malware, this isn't toolbar, my tabs work, no functionality has changed. All this did is add Ask.com to the list of search engines available in the top right corner of Firefox(Why it wasn't added to begin with puzzles me).
I highly recommend this Add-On and search engine.

Since Ask toolbar thinks it is ok to install by default without asking us, using other program's installations, ans since it takes us about half an hour to reset our settings in firefox and uninstall it, I think it is fair to spend another 5 nimutes to give a bad feedback and a 1/5 rating, What you think? If you agree and if you have suffered from this evil add-on, do the same!

ASK is an excellent search engine. This addon allows you to use ASK in the default search window in Firefox. It is not like other search tools that add a tool bar to your browser. I have used ASK for years and have never experienced any of the issues listed in the other reviews.I would Rate this an 11 but Firefox only allows 5 stars.
