I installed it and after that, a new tab opened telling me to select a searchengine for the url bar. but my selection from the dropdown (duckduck I chosed) did not work.
So I opened the prefs for the addon and now I see 4 different settings with NO explanation what they do, how they work or how the user can activate them. Ok, I know about the urlbar, but the others I can't imagine what they are for and how I can start them. I'd love to had some (shortish) instructions on how to use the about:home search engine, or the new tab search engine, but I have no clue.
URL bar search works as expected and proposed.
Thank you.
EDIT: now, with a little more explanation from the dev, my understanding is better, how usefull this addon really is.
Thanks for the suggestion. I'll add some help text and look into your bug.
Firefox provides search entry points in five different places:
The URL bar (keyword search),
The search bar
The new tab page
The home page (about:home)
When you highlight text on a web page and right click.
By default, Firefox uses the same search engine for all of these places.
The additional items in Keyword Search allow you to specify unique search engines for each place.

Great extension and easy to use. One question. If I set the address bar to google and the search engine to wiki, then keywords in address bar will give google results, as expected. But if I set the search engine to youtube, then I have results from youtube despite having google as default. Is there a fix to this (and other google-related search engines)?

First tab is search engine I have set in my search bar, second tab is search engine I have set in Keyword Search. I guess this is the same problem described by the poster below. Problem is, I use TMP, so checking the box would be a problem.

There are some problems with plugin. If i enter some search phrase in address bar, after that i switch tab and my request to search engine lag - content of current active tab can change to my search request in previouse tab. And in previouse tab (where i actualy activate request) firefox open search not from default engine but from selection in searchbar.
This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.0.7.1-signed).If you go to the Add-ons Manager and go to the options for the add-on, you'll see a checkbox that might alleviate this problem if you check it.
It won't work if you use Tab Mix Plus.

FF29,键入中文或一个单词时不工作,如:“中文”,或“wow”。键入两个以上单词时(用空格隔开)可以正常工作,如:“中文 测试”,或“wow ui”。

This add-on works beautifully. It does exactly what is says it will.
As an added bonus it adds other nice little touches such as displaying the correct icon for each search engine on Firefox's built-in home page. By default, Firefox only has an icon for Google; all the other search engines only have a text legend. This extension fixes that, and always displays the appropriate icon.

Does exactly what it says - restores the behaviour that used to be the norm.

Simple but effective - puts Firefox / Pale Moon back the way it should have been left with the Awesome Bar doing my Google searches (plus bookmarks, history etc.) and the Search field for when I want to select a particular website to search.

An extension that simply does what it claims. Hope this is a trend!
My apologies to developer but i find internet far too dangerous to send money over it.

I will be using this addon if it works well. I have been missing this feature since firefox decided to get rid of it.

3 stars cause it's an important feature and in-case I'm missing something it does better than FF already does with keyword searching. But honestly I'm sick of so many extensions that just create a task bar button for an action FF already does, unless of course it makes it soooo much easier, which this does not. Correct me if I'm wrong please.
For those that don't know. If you already have the search engine you want available click search bar arrow>manage...>add keyword to this search (ie. go for Google)>type go searchforthis in address bar. For searches within a particular site, go to site>right click the site's search bar>add keyword for this search>and so on.
Keyword Search does not add any icons to Firefox at all.
