I love this extension, works great with Firefox 3... just have to know how to set it up ;)

It works with Fx 3.0.1. Just do the following:
1. open your minimizetotray.xpi with any archiver.
2. find install.rdf.
3. extract install.rdf.
4. open install.rdf with any text editor.
5. find em:maxVersion.
6. replace 2.0 (or something like it) with 3.1.0.
7. save install.rdf.
8. replace install.rdf in the archive with your new file.
9. install the extension.

Love this add on, another reason to stay with FF2 however ctrl + shift + m interferes with stylish

Cross posting this from the minimize to tray helper comments...used it today and it worked. Great plugin that I hope this helps everyone to enjoy again!

Firefox 3 Compatability

Install Mr. Tech Toolkit Restart Go to Minimize to tray add-on page Choose "See all Versions" click on the version at the top. The installation box will appear, "check" the box at the bottom that says "Override MaxVersion..." Restart Firefox Tools>Add-ons Find minimize to tray add-on. It may indicaate it is not compatible, Right click on it and choose the menu item "make compatible" Restart Firefox. Then you have this great tool to use. I hope the author updates it so there is not jumping through hoops or downloading an altered version from an unknown source. Cheers!

This is a perfect add-on, but seems like Mook has died or something, cause haven't updated since oct 2006. Does de Foundation have the code, so another developer could fix it to work on FF3?

Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Does what it says on the tin, except that closing Thunderbird resets the settings. Very annoying!

With little modification to the install file it works cute with the Firefox 3.0.0.0. I am shareing with you the modifiled file to make your life earlier.

1) Download this file http://www.quickfiles.net/550443

2) Unzip it to your disk or Desktop

3) Double click the unzipped file "minimizetotray-0.0.1.2006102615+-fx+zm+sb+tb.xpi"

4) If you get a message "Windows can not open this file" then click "select a program from a list" click OK and select FireFox and click OK again

5) This should install you the plug-in

Enjoy :)

Thanks Peter Paul!!

For this to work in FF3, you just need to modify the xpi file. Click the "Ignore version check" link and then right-click on the Add to Firefox and select Save Link As. Open the XPI file with WinZip and then open the install.rdf file with a text editor. Change line 24: "2.0.0.*". I changed 2.0.0 to 4.0.0. Then save it (you may need to refresh the file in the archive). Once you've done this you can reinstall the add-on and it works perfectly.
