I've been using this for a while, and it is great for keeping up with multiple Gmail accounts. I've noticed recently that the snippets aren't working. A fix for this is to go into your Gmail settings, click on the "Buzz" tab, and select the option to not show Buzz in Gmail. You don't have to disable Buzz completely to fix the snippets bug. Note that you will have to do this for each account that you want to view snippets.

this ad on USED to work good
then they had to go and SCREW with it.
now the snipets wont display and instead of the list of accounts showing at a right click they all display across the bottom cluttering up my window.
bottom line, dont bother

GMail Manager is a terrific tool and well worth a donation to Tod Long.
You know a tool is terrific when you feel the pain when something goes wrong. And you *will* feel the pain when something breaks because Google introduces a new feature or changes an old one. Tod and the other add-on developers are at the mercy of Google and in constant catch-up.
The current version of GMail Manager has broken snippets. As best I can determine from massive searching, Google Buzz is the culprit and disabling it is (potentially) the temporary solution to getting your snippets back. (Buzz is one of the choices in your GMail Settings)
Unfortunately, Google appears to be strong-arming people about keeping Buzz enabled. I.e., if you disable it, then there are dire warnings about losing your Google Profile, assuming you created one at some time.
In any case, for those of you who are trying GMail Manager for the first time and had unfortunate timing, I encourage you to give it another try.
In the meantime, you can bet that Tod is doing his level best to fix the broken snippets problem and to get GMail Manager back to its usual pristine state.
You go, Tod!

Hi. I have problems wit my college mail. It's a NNNNN@studenti.unimore.it, and it's hosted by Google Gmail. I create the account and when I check new emails the add-on says alway "0 new mails" (and does not show connection error!). What's the problem?
Great add-on however! :)

Well.... works good with multiple accounts (8) on high speed. On dial up it eats emails replies. (not impressed) When replying to an email, if Gmail Manager is checking another account the reply just vanishes.

I've been using this extension for ages and any minor problems are always taken care of very quickly. Until a new update is released I've reverted to a previous version like many other users. Here's a copy of it for users who have problems manually updating their own copies like fuzzyscorpio:-

I've altered the install.rdf so it's compatible with 3.6.*

Turn off Google Buzz to be able to view your mail snippets again.

The latest version of this add-on reduced usefulness and functionality. I strongly recommend avoiding downloading this add-on unless it returns to its previous quality in future updates.

well, install it and probe it for several days and believe me that the previous version is better, I am often asked to activate email accounts, then turned back to the previous version, I think you need some adjustments to the software

I used to love this add-ons. But v0.6 is a step back, compared to 0.5.7:
The new menu doesn't sooth me
Firefox startup delays with 4 seconds (modern PC. Disable g-manager and the problem i gone)
New email checkup is awful
I switched back to 0.5.7 and disabled the compatibility check on Firefox.
Type: abount:config in the super bar
Add>New>Boolean: extensions.checkCompatibility.3.6
Select False
Restart Firefox and you're done.

HOW TO GET 0.5.7.5 ON FIREFOX 3.6:
The solution is simple. Go to this link: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addons/versions/1320 and download version 0.5.7.5. Once you have the file, change the extension from .xpi to .zip. You can now open this file with any archiving program (WinZip, WinRar, et al). Extract the file install.rdf. Open it with a text editor (WordPad, NotePad). Scroll down to the section labeled Firefox. Find the line that reads: 3.5.*. Change this to 3.6. Save it, then insert this file back into the archive, overwriting the old install.rdf. Rename the archive back to .xpi. Now you can open Tools|Add-ons and drag this file to that window to install the Add-on and voila: you now have Gmail Manager 0.5.7.5 on Firefox 3.6. I'm using it, and it's working great!

Version 0.6 is BAD! I uninstalled the new version and downloaded Version 0.5.7.5 again.

wow man, this version sucks compared to the previous ones. "updated options menu"? yeah right. there's no inbox snippets, it doesn't login when you left click (all it does is just open a window and that is EXTREMELY annoying, since you don't know your inbox count prior to opening the window), it's slower, god this is awful. and now i can't find the previous versions. sigh, too bad

This new update has got to be a BUG PROBLEM because seriously dude it is a STEP BACK.
I actually had to register on here just to post this scathing review because i was just about to donate some $$ to the author until i saw this update...Gawd awful.
The previous version was more advanced than this new one. I will have no choice but to deinstall it and look for something that actually works..*sigh*
At least i saved my donation dollars for someone who does care.

No longer shows snippets on hover.
"Automatically change to the account with new mail" has gone
2 small changes which are MASSIVE steps backwards as far as development goes.
This used to be 5 star, now It's just taking away the old one :-(

I liked other gmail notifiers that change the color when have mail.. annoying to have to hover to find out if mail. Otherwise works great.

This new version doesn't seem to work properly. It used to show the titles of what I received when first received, but it stopped. And now it won't allow me to hover over it and see them either.
I think it's back to the drawing board with this version. I'd go back to .5 but it says it isn't compatible. Bah.

What's the point of having an email checker that doesn't show you automatically when new emails arrive?
You shouldn't have to right click on the icon to see if you got new mail. It should show it automatically like version 0.5 did.
Do yourself a favor and don't use 0.6. Just use 0.5 with compatibility check disabled in Firefox 3.6
Type about:config in the awesome bar and hit enter
add --> new --> boolean --> extensions.checkCompatibility.3.6 ---> false
