Ihave about a dozen email accounts and the files are all on network storage which seems to make TBird take 1+ minutes to process. So when I start TBird I end up looking at something else and forget about watching for the prompt. SOmetimes 5-10 minutes have gone by before I notice it and then of course I have a dozen dialogs to find (amazing that they won't all show up in the same place) and fill in the password for... a real pita on an almost daily basis. This seems to solve that nicely and, so far, no side effects. The option to wait until add ons have finished could use a bit more explanation but that is a minor complaint. Thank you!

Complemento fundamental para Thunderbird

He estado buscando una alternativa al complemento "Profile Password" y me he encontrado con "StartupMaster".

Sencillamente ... genial!!

Essential add-on for Thunderbird

I have been looking for an alternative to the "Profile Password" add-on and I have found "StartupMaster".

Just great!!

It fulfills its function correctly. It's a shame that Mozilla does not introduce this functionality into its options.

It is true that the security of the mail can be skipped (not the passwords) but this is no longer a problem of the complement but of the policy that Mozilla follows. In any case, this add-on is fantastic to feel a little more secure in your work pc.

And also, from what I've seen, the developer of this add-on is very attentive to improve it so many thanks!

I repeat, a fundamental complement. Thank you very much to your developer.

a greeting

I've already contacted the developer at the listed email address to let him / her know that StartupMaster causes Firefox 53.x (current Aurora) to crash.

I've relied on this extension for years, and I hope it's updated - or Firefox is fixed - so that I can use it again soon. Once this is ironed out, I plan to upgrade my rating to 5-star.

Is there any way you can have it not reflect the characters? I often have to log in while on a projected screen. I can't find it in any of the options. Thank you!

In my case it's a home computer so it's great to have the password requested only once, regardless if it can be bypassed or not.

This add-on is a must have for anyone who is using more than one account in Thunderbird. Thunderbird would be unusable for me without it.

The password process works but the protection can be easily bypassed : you only need to start firefox in safe mode with command line. Too shame...

This addon works great for me with Thunderbird 45.3.0. It provides the functionality that should be in the core code.

I found your addon from this post in the Mozilla support forum:
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1132064#answer-921877

Afterwards I found the FOURTEEN year old bug in Bugzilla about the problem:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=177175

Thank you again for providing a way round an issue that Mozilla obviously do not have any care about!

So far, it works like it's supposed to. I have been needing to enter in my master password multiple times after an update in the past, which was something that seemed to have gotten broken over time. I decided to look for some sort of extension and found this. It works great, and I only need to enter in my master password one time.

Kudos for taking care of this.

All it does it give you all those redundant master PW prompts *before* TB actually appears. How does this fix anything??

I've been dealing with multiple master password prompts for ages.
I've tried everyting I could find on google. I keep getting two prompts for my master password. One is from TB and the other seems to be from Lightning Calendar because it goes away if I remove the calendar extension.
I installed StartupMaster but it still happens eve after disabling the option "delay password prompt until extensions are loaded".
I think that the program works fine for Firefox but is not working in Thunderbird, at least for me.
This bug has been around since TB version 3.0 and I'm now in version 38 !. I can't believe that Mozilla has not been fixed yet ....

Is Startup Master supposed to deal with the prompt from Lighting or is this something that is out of your hands ... ?
Can you help ?
Thanks
