It would be nice if the spelling system in Thunderbird could recognise messages in multiple languages.
However, I reckon it is perhaps a limitation of Thunderbird itself.

Works great. You have to set up your preferences manually at the beginning but the add-on keeps track of the different languages you use for your different contacts and switches automatically.

This is just amazing. It automatically switches your dictionary to the language you actually need when typing. This needs to be integrated into Firefox. :-)

What can I say? It works. I have been waiting for a long time for a working version of "Markov Dictionary Switcher", but now I am happy.
Thanks.

Would be great to use it on postbox, and seems to be easy to port addons from thunderbird.

Thunderbird v52 install seems to have killed this add-on. Not a complaint. Just FYI. I reverted back to v45 and the add-on is working flawlessly as before. Wonderful tool to have! Thank you!
This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.9.0).I'm already looking into it and hope to release a fix this week.
Thank you for reporting because I wasn't aware of it. And thanks for the 5 stars review!
Update: Published new version that fixes compatibility with v52.

Remembers all people correctly and changes the language without you even noticing.

Does exactly what I need.

I find this plugin excellent but there is one behavior I would modify: when I write to multiple people, I would want the language information to be saved for the group of people and not for each people individually. My language choice changes whether I write to someone in a multi-people email or in a one person email.
This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.8.1).Hi! I'm glad you like it!
It only stores the language to the people individually if it has never saved for them. Once you have your people individually and set the language, it will not be overwritten.
Anyway, If this does not work for you, feel free to send an issue here:

Extremely Helpful. Works fine...
Waiting for the guessing based on text because I write to new addresses very often...

Working fine, it really helps me a lot, having correspondents in several countries speaking different languages.
I'm just wondering where the data is stored? For trouble-shooting... you won't need it in everyday life. And if there was some indicator (flag, or just text) in the status bar, that would be lovely. Just some suggestion for future versions.
EDIT 2015-01-10: Thanks for the reply! I found the data in the user preferences (file pref.js or preferences extensions.automatic_dictionary.* in config editor). As for the little status bar flag I dreamt about, I contacted him directly and got the answer that he prefers to keep the add-on as simple as possible (and I do agree).
Thanks for your review!
The data is stored in the preferences system of Thunderbird itself. In your Thunderbird profile folder (in your disc).
I don't fully understand your feature request, sorry. Feel free to email me with details or file an issue here: https://github.com/beltrachi/automatic_dictionary/issues/new

Excellent add-on, very useful. One star less for info collecting.
This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.5.5).Rated 3 out of 5 stars
The intended function of this addon is worth 5 stars indeed.
It works as expected is is very handy for multi language communicators.
BUT: The "collecting usage data" thing is evil - and a bad idea at all. Nothing that is on google statistics is "anonymous". NOTHING.
NO matter if it is opt-in or opt-out, if you don't tell what data exactly is collected, you will loose a lot of trust. Even if you tell you may loose some trust.
I think if you really want input for improvements, ask your users on a less intrusive way.
For instance it would be nice to see the list of stored combinations and probably modify/remove them (in the addon options window).
Thanks, Regards.
I'm glad you think it is worht 5 stars.
About the anonymous data collecting, I ask the user just after installing if he wants it or not. You only have to click the "no" button. It's no big deal.
And the data collected is well explained here https://github.com/beltrachi/automatic_dictionary/blob/master/COLLECTED_DATA.md
I'm great fan of privacy, this is why I let you choose to participate just after installing the plugin. And I'm showing everybody the source code to let anywone verify what I assert that i'm collecting,
Besides that, thanks for the improvement suggestion. It has been already commented here https://github.com/beltrachi/automatic_dictionary/issues/6
Thanks for your review! Any constructive feedback is always welcome.
