I install it with TB91.
It's seems that sync doesn't work with contact with no mail, ie i have "use fake email" activate, this contact doesn't appear in the list with the google label.

16/10/21 After contact with Marco Zanon, he spends time to help me ... and now all my contact are correctly synchronized.
Thanks
Thanks for Your review.
If Your contact doesn't have an email address, enabling the "Use fake email addresses" should work.
If not, please contact me privately.
Thanks,
MZ

Great, but...
In Thunderbird 91, it makes crashing Thunderbird AND the computer ! ! !
In Thunderbird 91, there is the sync addressbook originally. But it doesn't sync groups (only contacts).
Google--4-tbync is able to sync all (contacts and groups). But in TB 91, it makes freeze Thunderbird AND computer for looooonnng time (about a hour and half...).
Thanks for Your review.
However, as this is the first report of this kind, I'd like to know more about. How many addressbooks did You test with? How many contacts and contact groups?
Please open a specific issue on the GitHub page.
Thanks,
MZ

Great to have a replacement gContact.sync. Hope the "full" version will come soon. Syncing a 1,000 address book took less than 10 Secnds! Works well with TB 91.0.1
This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.2.1).Thanks for Your review.
The full version will probably come by the end of the year. I must wait for TbSync to rewrite most of its code.
If You have huge addressbooks, You could experience bottlenecks when upgrading. This will improve in the future...

Erro 401: invalid_client
Client missing a project id.
Thanks for Your review.
Did You create the project credentials first, as stated in the documentation?
If not, it will obviously not work.
If yes, could You please provide additional information?
Thanks,

It works great on Thunderbird 78.11.0
Using it with fake addresses and read only mode (about 2000 contacts)
Thanks for Your review.

I'm using tb 78.12
when i try to connect using tbsync ui, a form appears with the correct google account, requesting to allow access to my contacts, but i cant click "allow" since it's grayed out.
after close this window, the log file just say "Browser window closed before the authorization code was retrieved".
account is defined properly in tbsync including id+secret retrieved from google cloud platform.
Thanks for Your report, but I strongly suspect there's some mistake in creating the Google Cloud Platform credentials: did You follow the how-to step-by-step?
Please email me privately.
Thanks.
UPDATE.
As per private tests, the "Contacts API" must *not* be enabled, as it would interfere with "Google People API".
UPDATE.
As per private communication, JavaScript must *not* be disabled in Thunderbird.

Obviously, this is still early days. But I have been using this plug in with three separate Tbird addressbooks totaling 10K contacts and 50 labels/distribution lists. And I'm using it in full read-write mode.
Marco has been fabulous in his responsiveness when I report a bug.
Note that for really big addressbooks, the sync may take 5 minutes or more in full read/write mode.
Thanks for Your report.
Read-write mode is only partially working though, as there are still some bugs and the addressbook structures are different between Google and Thunderbird. So I'd suggest to stick to the read-only mode.
And yes, the slowness is another major drawback, which will hopefully be overcome once TB91 and the new TbSync are out.
Thanks,
MZ

Muchas gracias Marco.
Thanks for Your review and Your appreciation.
As for the first problem (slowness), it's a known issue but I think I can't really do anything for the moment. When TB91 is out (September?), I will eventually refactor the code to use the so-called web workers, which will result in a more fluid experience (i.e.: the user interface will not freeze while synchronizing).
As for the second problem (no picture synchronization), it's a limitation of the current version. But I have some other requests on this point, so it's in my to-do list.
Thanks,
MZ

I'm happy that there is a replacement for gContactSync. But at the moment the synchronization takes quite long and it seems to block normal work in Thunderbird.
This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.1.4).Thanks for Your review. The synchronization of, say, 500 contacts should take about 10 seconds the first time, then only a few seconds when re-synchronizing. Once the final version is ready, however, I may think about speeding it up a little.

Your howto is very clear, even for a French man with not such a good English :-) just one point, you do not mention each time we have to enter an email address if it has to be the Gmail one or the one we use inTb... It does not work for me (Erreur 403 : access_denied
The developer hasn’t given you access to this app. It’s currently being tested and it hasn’t been verified by Google...), does the problem could come from this ? I put my Gmail adress every where, excepted when we have to "Add users" where I had both address, Gmail and the one I use in Tb... Thanks for your help :-) Have a nive day, Olivier.
Hi and thanks for Your review.
You have to enter each and every Google account which will "use" the credentials You are creating.
For example, say You're creating Example-Google-4-TbSync and You want Your app to be used by tony@example.com and fred@example.com (both Google accounts): just add these to the email field.
It's basically the Google user(s) who are granted access to Your Example-Google-4-TbSync app.
The error You got is likely to be caused by this misconfiguration. So, if You want to access Your Google Contacts under myexamplename@gmail.com, just enter this as the enabled email address.
Hope it helps.
Thanks,
MZ

This looks like a very promising replacement for gcontactsync. Thank you for your work on this.

It requires an in depth knowledge of Google Cloud Platform and API's & Services. The instructions are poorly laid out and not matching what you find on the API & Services screen. This is probably Google's fault as they are constantly changing things and many developers find their instructions out of date rather quickly. But as it is, it is impossible for me to configure.
This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.1.2).Thanks for Your review. I appreciated Your criticism and rewrote the steps in the howto (https://github.com/zanonmark/Google-4-TbSync/wiki/How-to-generate-your-own-Google-API-Console-project-credentials), which now is also full of screenshots and should be much more clear.
Could You please try and tell if everything seems easier?
Thanks,
MZ

Finally, there is a replacement for gContactSync. Thank you very much !!
This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.1.2).Thank you very much. It's still under development and will be partially rewritten in a few weeks when TbSync will be ported to the new WebExtension API. At the moment you'd better use it in read-only mode.
