Email and SMS alarms are supported in the latest nightlys, after I've finally fixed a long standing bug in Lightning. Believe me this was not an easy task, the patch was about 400 kb large!

You need Thunderbird 3 beta/ Lightning 1.0pre for the Provider 0.6pre

Unless I'm missing it, there is no support for resources (i.e., conference rooms) defined up on GCal? This makes an otherwise perfect add-on essentially useless for us, unfortunately. One of the very important things about shared calendaring is the ability to schedule these kinds of shared resources.

Any plans to support resources through he Provider?

Thanks!

Was a superb add-on till now. I can no longer edit a calendar event through Lightning. When I double click on an event, all that happens is a window appears with the URL of that event within Goggle calendar.

.5.3 worked well, but then I lost the ability to add/edit events from thunderbird. .5.4 has fixed the issue, thanks! The program now works perfectly, and is incredibly convenient. I love T-bird and Lightning!

Version 0.5.3 gave me serious trouble and scary moments with thunderbird freezing up on me ans some 600 alarms. Fortunately 0.5.4 was posted the same day with a bugfix and it works fine again.

I had to go back to version 0.5.2 of the Provider for Google Calendar because I could not create an event through Lightning. It works again since I downgraded to the last version. If you depend on this add-on like I do, wait a little and check the bug fixes before upgrading. Hopefully it will be resolved soon.

1. When the cycle of events pop reminder, if you click the "lift" button, will remove all cycle events reminder, including the future has not happened.
2. Not in the Lightning or Sunbird to create a cycle of events will be prompted to fail.

With TB 2.0.0.22 & lightening 0.9 & Provider 0.5.2, TB locked for me at startup recently. Figured it was lightening as the title in the task manger for thunderbird included July 2009. I started from winkey+r with thunderbird -jsconsole, the error console showed an error briefly but then did not paint and I could not show this again after a couple of reboots. Turns out Thunderbird has a safe mode shortcut created at installation, going in and disabling lightning (& also provider solved it). What a disaster, cost me an hour today, very disappointing.

Fantastic Add-On!! It solved my problem not finding a doable solution for syncing my Nokia E90 with Lightning (or any other calendar-application) under Linux over Bluetooth.
Now I installed Mail for Exchange on my phone, and Provider/Lightning/Thunderbird on my Linux-box. Both syncs perfectly with Google Calendar with the bonus(?) that my wife can fill in my phone calendar from her workplace via Google.
Splendid!!!

I'm riding on the Lightning Nightly Build for Thunderbird 3.0 Beta 3; is there any development build you offer that would be compatible with Thunderbird 3.0?

I acknowledge this is a support question, but the link for "support section" resolves to this page, so I'm using your review post for this support question -- others probably will be interested in your response, too.

This is a great Add-On. However, I am having the slow-down issue with it. Fairly frequently, my CPU usage will go up to +50% for 2 or 3 minutes, making Thunderbird completely unuseable. As I use email/calendar many times a day, I am finding this very hard to deal with.

I am wondering if this issue is not so much an issue with Provider per-se, but with Lightning itself... This bug seems possibly related: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=462283
As this bug shows the problem being resolved in TB3 with the latest Lightning... I hope that will fix this or I won't be able to use, which would be a shame.

Bonjour,

I love it so much, but I've started using tasks in Google Calendar very heavily. Any plans to support Google Calendar tasks going forward?
I'd pay for that feature.

Tasks are not supported by Google yet, but if they change this I'll be implementing tasks too. See:

Well Done
Very well done ;)

I sync to 5 different computers over 3 US States + a mobile laptop, and the fact that my calendar can be manipulated and adjusted as need my several different people, without having to sign into Google, is excellent.

I eagerly await the fix of the bug that will not allow off line reading or archiving, but this small issue has not been a deterrent for over 2 years now.
The bug is also outside of this addons purview.

Thanks for your hard work and the latest update

Regards
SGT. E. V. McKay

Hello SGT McKay

Thank you, I'm glad the provider is helping your business! Unfortunately, providing offline support is not as easy as it sounds. This is an issue that should be fixed in the core product instead, anything else would be quite a hack. We need to find a performant way to generally synchronize two calendars, which may be hard especially with many items in the calendar. We (the Mozilla Calendar Team) have already added readonly offline support, but there are some server-side issues with the provider w.r.t recurring series. If you want to try this, enable the experimental cache in the calendar options and restart.

Hope it helps!
