Does not work on 2.0.0.22 as far as I can see. Also zero help files (nothing on website).

I couldn't get it to work. If it was working, I didn't see anything of any value.

Folks, I found out that some e-mail clients generate a long and weird message-id. This could impact xnote as it uses this id as the filename. So when a message-id ends up begin an invalid filename, you wouldn't be able to create an xnote on that message.
I've built a simple hack to use the md5 hash of the message-id instead as filename. It works.
If anyone is willing to test it, let me know I can send the xpi.
Just my 2c at this terrific extension.

would have been perfect if the notes were stored on a network drive so if more than one person accesses the same inbox at any one time the notes will be available for everyone. then it would be really useful1

Fantastic plugin, essential to how I organise my work tasks. Thanks heaps.
It would be a wonderful thing if you could add a column to the email pane that showed the content of the note, or at least the start of the content. I add a note to all of the emails that require me to carry out an action, or the ones for which I am waiting on someone else. It would give me a terrific overall view of my tasks if this were available in the email pane, rather than my having to click on each email to see the note.

Hi,
Does anyone know if there is a keyboard shortcut to popup the note window?
Thanks!

Die Notiz wird einer Email eindeutig zugeordnet. Wenn diese Email aufgerufen wird erscheint die Notiz.
Sehr schön!

A great addon - it should be a standard feature in Thunderbird!

Works well and I'm really happy getting rid of the yellow post-its on my desk.. I would however want it to be possible to right-click and move the note to another e-mail message.
All-in-all - it saves TIME for me!

It won't fix your old xnotes, but all new xnotes that you add will be in the US date format. MM/DD/YY
http://rapidshare.com/files/158696774/xnote-2.1.0-tb-USdate.xpi.html
Also, if you update the new US Date plugin, it may revert back to the old date format for new xnotes (if the author doesn't change it on his end).
No need to uninstall, just install right over the top. It won't affect your old xnotes if you use the same version (2.1.0).
If you want to fix your old notes, go here...
C:\Documents and Settings\*USERNAME*\Application Data\Thunderbird\Profiles\*RANDM-CHARACTERS*.default\XNote\
You should "probably" be ok to edit the old xnote files Notepad, but hex-edit would probably be safer.

XNote 2.1.0 Does not work with TB 2.0.0.17 on the Mac 10.5.5. I see these problems:
1. Note gets added to the message BELOW the one I select.
2. When I choose another message and go back to the one with the note, I don't see it. It is hiding UNDER the TB window
3. The context menu's delete function does not work to delete the note.

Fantastic little application, for leaving useful notes about specific messages. Great for helping to organise work and tasks.
Works fine with TB 2.0.0.17 (Windows XP) also with Thunderbird installed as a U3 application. Xnote displays a re-positionable yellow post-it type note when the email associated with the note is at any point selected. Notes can be deleted (obvious cross bottom left) or hidden (cross top right).
Creates a new column in the email pane and emails with xnotes attached can be seen. Adding an Xnote to a specific email can be done either from right click menu or customise TB's toolbar to include the add Xnote icon. Easy to use, just be prepared to explore TB to customise its functionality to suit you.
Only down side is that Xnotes are associated with the local machine being used to create them. So if you read emails from several locations. The note/s created on one machine are not viewable on another... Now that would be VERY useful!

Xnote 2.1.0 does not work with Thunderbird 2.0.0.16. I used the Linux version of Thunderbird, but the problem probably relates to all platforms. User support in English from www.starxpert.fr seems to be nonexistent.

Does not function properly in Mac version. Can't see note until l click on tool bar icon and context menu items don't work. Too bad because Windows version works great. Any fixes??

+1 for adding IMAP synchronization to XNote!
Besides that, many thanks for the work!

Just downloaded and made my first XNote entry. Seems to do what I need for now. I like the fact that a little "yellow sticky note" image is displayed next to the email message.
Is there a search feature? That would be nice.

can we search the XNOTE from the search bar?
Sorry for being soo spoiled because of this add-on. ;-)
Anyway, it is a very very cool add-on
