Not compatible with FF 3.6.10
This review is for a previous version of the add-on (2.0.2.1).Rated 4 out of 5 stars
I like this but it will sometimes save or open a search when I don't want it to (I'm a bit clumsy)
Would be good to have an option, button, right click entry or something to turn it off and on without needing to go to tools,add-ons,extentions,disable.
I had it and removed it but have since reinstalled it as the negative bits are not as many as the positive.

Takes a little getting used to but once you get the hang of it it's a phenomenal addon.

Great extension. Unfortunately, it isn't compatible with Firefox 3.6.10, and I really miss it. Please update.

Ive only just come across this addon and im glad i did. Its very fast and simple to use. Just saves that little bit extra time when searching!
As someone else as mentioned it would be great to setup default search engines, or even use a keyboard short like ctrl + drag opens in so and so search engine. Just a thought. Theres a great lot you could do with this addon, but even if new features done get added, its still a very handy addon to have in your arsenal.
Thanks

I like your plugin very much, it's simple and fast.
One inconvenient thing I found is, the web search always use current selected engine, instead of a pre-set engine.
Is it possible to add the feature which can fix the web search engine? (could be based on the search engine position, name of whatever).

It would be nice, if you can make it compatible with Firefox 4.0b*

QuickDrag makes opening links and searching web text much easier and quicker. As its name suggests, simply drag and drop links or web text. Dragged links will be opened in a new tab whereas dragged text will initiate a web search (such as Google) in a new tab. At the end of the day, you'll realize how more natural drag and dropping is instead of right-click to open the drop menu (then selecting 'open link in a new tab' or 'search X on Google'). As far as I know, this feature was originally in Maxthon as "Super drag n drop". It's an incredible tool to enhance productivity, and I'm glad that it found its way onto Firefox.

I use one of Kai's Windows programs daily and used to visit his website (code.kliu.org) all the time as well. All of a sudden around July 11, 2009, Kai disappeared. No posts to his website. No posts to his blog. No answers to emails sent to him. So, sadly, I think Kai must have been in an accident or had something else happen to him.
If anyone wants to take over the development of this add-on, grab the source code from his website while you can. I have the source code as well.

I have the same problem with the opening tabs at the end of tabs bar instead of the near current. Please fix it.

I e-mailed you about this, but I thought I would paste it here as well.
Kai,
I use your Quickdrag extension, and really like it. However, it looks like the methods you are using will be deprecated due to a new Drag and Drop API. Here is the related Mozilla Bug: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=545119
This update just landed in the newest nightly (trunk) build, which means your extension doesn't currently work with it. I know you might be hesitant to update your extension before even a beta has come out, but I wanted to know: are you planning on updating your extension? Do you have an idea how much work this would take and how long it would be before you'd have a new version?
Thanks.

Hi Kliu, I'm using your fantastic add-on and I found a little problem using it with Firefox 3.6.
When I use drag and drop to perfom a text search on google, new tab with search results opens at the end of tabs bar instead of to the right of the tab I searched from.
If I perform the same operation using right mouse click and selecting "search with Google" from contextual menu new tab opens correctly near the current one.
As a side note, if use drag and drop with images and clickable links it works fine.
Can you fix it please?
Thanks a lot
P.S.
Another little suggestion:
sometimes I activate drag and drop by mistake (for example if I'm highlighting some text while reading) and I'd like to have a quick mode to cancel it and avoid to open and then close the tab with search results.
I'm using a plugin for IE similar to QuickDrag and it allows to cancel drag&drop if I press right mouse button BEFORE release left one.
Is it possible to have the same in your add-on?
