Superbe extension, aucun soucis de synchro via imap, il manque juste la possibilité de sauvegarde de photos (a défaut, au moins préserver le chemin des dites photos)

It currently does not work correctly with OSX mail. When you install T-Bird it recognized you have a Mac address book and creates a new book that correctly imports your contacts. Synchronizer does not see this address book. It only sees Personal and Collected. No matter what I did, I could not make this plug in work in OSX. Works fine in windows.

Using with IMAP. No problems! Short of an actual contacts sync solution, this extension works very well.

This is the perfect add-on for those wanting to maintain address books between different PCs, and it is manna for those who want to avoid giving contact information to Google et. al. despite privacy promises.
I've been looking at automated export options to different address book formats to accomplish the same thing. Mr. Gersdorf created exactly what I needed without having to mess with all that. Well done!

Please people, just read what this add-on does and don't complain about things it is not intended for.
If you have multiple instances of Thunderbird running (mostly on different computers) and you want to have the same address book on all these instances, then this add-on is just perfect for you. If you add an entry on one machine the most current version of your address book is stored (in a file, on IMAP, etc.) and downloaded on your other TB instances.
It's not for exporting your address book in various formats, or anything else - but that's just fine. It does what it says and it works perfect. Thanks for the effort!

I tried it and it appears that it only exports address books in the .mab (Mozilla Address Book) format. I need to export in the .vcs (vcard) format as that's what my iPod classic (5th gen) will read. I use the :More Functions for Address Book" add-on available at https://nic-nac-project.org/~kaosmos/morecols-en.html. Otherwise it has lots of options for downloading and uploading. The address books I selected uploaded to the folder I set it to just fine.

Why call it synchronizer when it isn't really?
This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.9.7).You can synchronize hard disks, folders, files or records inside a file. All of these operations synchronizes something. Thats why my add-on is a synchronizer! I'm synchronizing files.

Why cannot I install it on tb 3.0 ???

Version 0.9.10 installs in tb3.0 RC1 and works just fine in Linux. I don't know why but a few address I know I upload before trying TB RC1 are no-longer in my address book. But just to be sure I cleared my address book and restarted Thunderbird and Addressbook Synchronizer download everything just fine minus those address.
The final word is its working for Thunderbird 3 RC1 in linux. So try it out!

Versions prior to 0.9 worked perfectly on Mac... Author made changes in version 0.9+ that cause file permission issues on the Mac. I have contacted the author and he has no interest in resolving the issue. If you use a Mac, please ask the author to fix this extension!! It worked before, so he _could_ make it work again...

Nice tool, but it would be great if Auth TLS (FTP) would be provided.

I set up the install for a friends, to upload the addresses in "address" folder. But not to confuse her, i subscribed the mail client from that folder. But then address book synchronizer complains hat it cant find the right folder anymore. But I think it makes sense to unsubscribe from a system-like folder as those addressbooks, no? So Ill consider it as a bug. A minor one, but still.

Great Tool! But is there any possibility that the synchronization function works for filter rules, too? Will this be implemented in future releases? I think it would be a really nice feature to keep the filter rules in sync on different clients. Just like the addressbook with a backup in an IMAP folder.

Effortlessly allows me to use the same address book from all the PCs I use, without the security risk of using a third party syncing server.
Especially love the ability to save address book to an IMAP folder; brilliant idea !!
