Works flawlessly with TB3.1.10 and Windows XP SP3. Would be great, if users could edit text, right after double clicking it.

Nice addon to Thunderbird's addressbook. Makes you wonder why this is not a standard feature.

Excellent, simple to use and useful. I like it. Hope it moves forward to Thunderbird 3.3 or whatever the next version number is.

It works very well!
But, I request an important feature: copy all namecard information.
Is this a big request?
Thanx!
Thanks. Others also have made the same request. It's something I do not have the skills or resources to accomplish now, especially on multiple computer platforms. You might check out "MoreFunctionsForAddressBook" which has better export functions.

Works very well under Windows 7. I´d also like to add the German address format and am looking forward for implementation. Thanx for your work. DJDDoS

Unfortunately the address is always copied in the English format:
Johann Doe
Anystreet 72
Berlin, 23408
The German address format is:
Johann Doe
Anystreet 72
23408 Berlin
Any chance to implement custom formats?
Version 1.4 should provide localized address label formats.

Thanks for the add-on. Any chance of a context menu option to copy all *available* data for the contact?
I have TB 3.0.4, which has that option when you right click on a contact in the address book list, but what is copied includes empty fields and their description, which take ages to edit out.
Thanks. Using regular mouse select, cut and paste - which this extension also enables - should satisfy most of your needs. It will not copy any text for empty fields. I also suspect you are using the "More Functions for AddressBook" extension which is clouding the issue a bit.

It's fantastic help. Great job! I do not understand why this feature is not supported at the first place.
Thanks a lot!

Just thought of another suggestion :)
When copying addresses, it would be nice to have the ability to appended the name of the person before the address. At the moment to get a full address I have to copy the name from the Contact area and the address from the Home or Work area.

I have to agree with HGaservqe and Dr3Bob, this should be a standard feature! However, the add-in does work as advertised and can be very useful.
The only problem I have is that the copied addresses contain blank lines for empty fields while the card omits them.

running vista TB2 - excellent for non typists like me. Mistake i made was trying to copy info from the address details card ( because i am stupid) if you use the summary info at the bottom of the page it works well. just what i needed - thanks

Works with key short-cuts, but not with right-click context menu.

Does not work with Thunderbird 3
This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.0).Hi, I submitted a new version that works with TB3. It's waiting in the approval queue.

You can select (highlight) all or portions of the text in the card by sweeping the mouse. But-right clicking the text does not get you a drop down menu with a "Copy" option. Maybe this is why some reviewers think it does not work. You CAN do a Ctrl-C to copy the highlighted text to the scratchpad.
I would rate the add-on as 4-star if it had a drop-down menu with "Copy".
I would give it 5 stars if I could select the text right from the main panel of the address book and could right-click to a "Copy" drop down menu.
But, even as it is Select Address is a worthwhile addition. Many thanks to the author.
I agree, it would be nice to have a right-click context menu, but I'm not skilled enough to do this.

Unfortunately I haven't found this very useful. While you can copy all the contact details in one go, they get pasted so jumbled up that they are almost unreadable. To be able to copy one field at a time isn't a great advantage over opening the properties and doing the same thing.

I assume that this feature was an oversight from the main developers!

just installed this, and it works!
It's very useful when you want to copy an address to documents and letters.
Thanks!!

I think the copy function is when the text is highlighted in the "Card Summary Pane" (View-Card Summary Pane checked).
This is at the bottom right side of the Address Book. Text can be highlighted and copied from there.

Thanks for creating this add-on. This should be a standard feature IMHO.
I tried it but when the text on the right hand side of the address card is copied the line breaks are not preserved when you paste the text. The text on the left side seems to be OK.
