I live in Costa Rica where quakes happen a few hundred times a day. Last week I slept thru a 7.something.
This needs the ability to define an area of interest. A graphic on the toolbar and just general snazzing up.
I like this and w/a little work it could be a tool I would use all the time.
Hey my browser just shook because of a 2.5 in Alaska! Bravo! Keep working on it. Love the shake man!
Hi, The new version is ready, which includes Geo-Filtering Capability. I am waiting for the approval. Alternatively, you may download it here ( http://www.freebookzone.com/exec.php?cmd=firefox_addon, http://www.freebookzone.com/firefox/equake_alert-4.0.3.6-fx.xpi ). Thanks for supporting eQuake Alert!

Thank you very much for your work on this. My son live in Los Angeles, California and it's good to know we can keep track of the seismic activity there and elsewhere. This could be a real life saver.

I never realized how often an earthquake occurs in the world. I like the map, data, and other info links. I would like an audio alert, maybe a rumbling sound or a short beep. At times I've looked away and missed the screen shake to see how intense the quake felt. My thanks to the designer(s).

Thank you for the icon, was just thinking about asking for this a while back and pow the upgrade happened. Thank you for your progress and work on this. One more little suggestion, How about adding a popup of location epicentre map, set to whatever continent or the whole world as soon you mouse over the icon?
Thank you again.

Good solid add-on.
Needs options to filter by continent, state, ZIP, etc.
Needs to be able to perform advanded filters (such as show > M 3.0 within 100 miles of local specified ZIP code, but show only >6.0 when out of Country). If these advanced filters can be added (as USGS has on their email notification), then I will bump up the score to perfect.
Thanks for the Feedback. Location based filtering is now available in the new version. It's pending approval, alternatively download it here: http://www.freebookzone.com/firefox/equake_alert-4.0.3.6-fx.xpiPriyadarsan Venugopalan

Very interesting add-on. The only problem I've had is when the quake report text is unusually long, such as the Jun 7 17:12 entry, where the report text was so long that it exceeded the space available in the status bar. The status bar expanded without expanding the window, so there were quite a few pixels no longer displayed. There was no horizontal scroll bar, and the pixels not visible included the vertical scroll bar and the X in the upper right hand corner.
Otherwise, it works find - and the links to just where the quake is and the recent history of the quakes opens a window to occassional patterns.

Nice little add-on, small and functional and so far i have found no problems.

..........I think this is a pretty cool gadget except for one very minor annoyance. Whenever it goes off, it kicks Firefox into full-screen. Not really a bad thing, just a little disconcerting until you get used to it.
