I'm glad Thunderbird users are finding PurgPak! Hopefully others will eventually. BY-Joe... yes indeed "Run" will be removed from the "Toolbar Button" in the next iteration and as for my plans for the the future of the extension, just to keep it working properly as long as possible. I am grateful that I was able to keep this type of extension going as I too sorely missed XPunge! Maybe someday this extension's function will become an internal function of Thunderbird.

Still no response from Theodore or John sadly so I have developed a replacement app and I am in the process of testing it now. Standby for details within a week or so.
UPDATE!
I have uploaded my extension today (2026-09-16) and it is in the review process...
LATEST UPDATE!
My replacement extension was rejected in the review process due to its use of Experiment API which did not conform to their standards although it works flawlessly.
This may be the end of the road for this class of extension for Thunderbird sadly. I'll keep working to find a work-around. The extension is still hosted at my CybTekSol GitHub repository while I'm trying to alter it to conform to Thunderbird's new requirements. SORRY... I tried.
NEW Devolopments:
I have shortened the name of the extension at the request of user BY-Joe, developed a new package with better implementation (previous version removed) and will ONLY be hosting it at my GitHub repository. Please spread the word!

FYI: I have reached out to John Beiling, a listed contributor of Xpunge, to attempt to give my revision to the OG developers/contributors and have decided to give them a few weeks to respond.
If they do not, I will do a complete rewrite of it all and release it as a completely new extension... name, code, graphics, licensing and all.
Standby for updates at the beginning of September 2026. I have a GitHub repo and may launch it there.

The latest revision of Xpunge Custom Revival is 5.1.0... it has been tested and works beautifully. I still have not had any response from Theodore so I am considering a TOTAL rewrite of the extension to post here (with a new name, icons, etc.).
Please comment if you are interested in a new version and I will do my best to make it a reality since it appears Theodore is no longer interested.

Theodore... I have successfully modified the implementation.js and manifest.json to work with the latest version of Thunderbird. It is called Xpunge Custom Revival 5.03 and want to send it to you! I DO NOT want any credit! It is my FREE gift to yo for your efforts over the years! I pray you are not irritated at my efforts to get this working as I felt naked without this awesome extension! THANKS!

I miss this extension so badly !!!!! Maybe we can hope for a Christmas gift of an update ? THANK YOU Theodore for maintaining this extension for so long and I pray you are well !!!!!
