so etwas habe ich schon lange gesucht, ich vermisse allerdings die
Möglichkeit, Felder aus dem Adressbuch definieren zu können, die ebenfalls zur automatischen Entscheidung Duplikat Ja/Nein herangezogen werden können.
Hintergrund: Bei meinem Adressbuch eines Sportvereins mit verschiedenen Sportgruppen sind viele Mitglieder in verschiedenen Gruppen angemeldet. Diese haben dann mehrere Einträge im Adressbuch mit derselben email-Adresse, aber mit verschiedenen Gruppenzugehörigkeiten, die ich z.B. im Feld "Organisation" unterscheide. Wenn ich gruppenspezifische Nachrichten versenden will, sortiere ich das Adressbuch nach "Organisation" und kann
dann ganz einfach Mails an diese Mitglieder versenden. Ich erspare mir
dadurch die Arbeit, jedesmal, wenn eine neue Mitgliederdatei veröffentlicht wird, ca. 30 neue Mitgliederlisten manuell zu erstellen. Bei der jetzigen Version von "duplicate contact manager" kann ich nur manuell entscheiden, ob wirklich ein doppelter Eintrag vorhanden ist (z.B. Ehepaar mit derselben email-Adresse in derselben Sport-Gruppe), oder ob der Eintrag erhalten bleiben muss, weil das Mitglied in einer anderen Sportgruppe auch noch gemeldet ist. Könnte man aber das Feld "Organisation" (oder ein anderes, nachdem man sortieren kann) automatisch mit zur Entscheidung heran ziehen, wäre ein automatischer Durchlauf machbar.
Gibt's da vielleicht mal ein Update???:-D

I'm using Google Contacts 0.6.40 add-on. It works well even it display a message that the add-on might not work properly with contacts more than 1000. Open Address Book and you will see on the top menu "Duplicates". Click, read and follow the Instructions. That's simple.

Man kann damit nur doppelte Namen herausfiltern. Was aber wirklich zählt ist die Erkennung doppelter Email Adressen, das kann das Tool nicht. Klar haben manche Kontakte auch zwei Email Adressen. Aber das ist ja nicht das Problem. Das hierbei auch nur bis 1000 Namen durchsucht werden können ist sowieso auch ein Grund das Tool letztlich als wertlos einzustufen. Für einen sinnvollen Einsatz leider nicht zu brauchen....

WOW! What a waste of time - This found not a single duplicate address.
I even went so far as to intentionally make duplicates, DID NOT FIND A ONE.
Worthless!!!
Would rate this as ZERO stars, except ZERO is not one of the options.

A good addon! For future development: keyboard shortcuts would be valuable during the deduping process (e.g. Alt-1 or Alt-2 for choosing which contact to save).

It is almost good!
It finds perfectly duplicates but than what....I can't correct or merge them. It can be a very good add-on with those functions.

It did find dupes, but that is it, so it only gets 2 stars in my book.
Pros: Identifies dupes. Cons: does not allow for specifying criteria of dupes (name only, email only, both), does not actually allow editing of found dupes (either winner or loser) despite claim, does not allow or provide merging of dupes, does not allow or provide for limiting across address book collections.
Not what I was hoping for or what was promised. Using Thunderbird (Portable) 3.1.11. It is a time-waster and people that actually need to manage dupes in their address books should look elsewhere.

Works flawlessly with TB3.1.10 and Windows XP SP3.
Though, it would be better, if per match editing (incl. copying and pasting) of values of fields would be possible.

Rearding to the short description at top, it is not clear, if it only works on Thunderbird 2.*

Poor edit capability during the process. It can not MERGE two duplicated contact recorad.

DE_TB: 3.1.5 Also ich bin nicht zufrieden. Es ist schön, dass es ein Werkzeug gibt, dass doppelte Einträge erkennt, aber meines Erachtens noch verbesserungsfähig ist. Ich habe das Programm heute heruntergeladen, lässt sich aber nicht konfigurierenen - läuft aber in der Grundeinstellung. Es erkennt doppelte (Vor-)Namen, sollte aber, was ich als wichtiger erachte, auch doppelte E-Mail-Adressen erkennen. Na ja, vllt. liegt es ja daran, dass man es nicht einstellen kann.

In my case the addon works with Thunderbird 3.1.2.
Very useful addon especially if you have a lot of contacts (> 100).
But I would move the "Search and delete dublicates" from the "dublicates" into the "extras" menu.

Not 3.0.4 compatible. Compatibility limitations should always be displayed with the download description. Not doing so is unprofessional.
