I've got really good experience using this add-on. I've got Cyrillic at my fingertips and it's very convenient.

Very easy to install and use. Effectively translates English keystrokes to non-English characters. The F2 key turns translation mode on and off, and another key shows you the keyboard map for the current language. A Tools menu item allows you to switch the language and change the hot keys.
