Not working. Following error messages appear:
If Move to Trash selected:
"Failed moving messages to:
mailbox://nobody@Local%20Folders/Trash".
or if Delete permanently selected "Failed erasing messages" appears.

Can't work anymore with the 78.12.0.

This add-on works great with Thunderbird 78.9.0 on a Mac running Catalina.
Like others, I got zero results at first. Fixes:
- Restart Thunderbird
- Tools > Add-on Options > Remove Duplicate Messages and change filter settings.
Under "General Settings" I left all defaults on. Everything checked. Default action "Move to Trash"
Under "Message Comparison" I kept *everything* checked except Size (important!) and Folder and set "Time Comparison Resolution" to Seconds.
Found 7K duplicates. Created a duplicates local folder and dumped them there. Yay!
Hello Patrick, or whoever else is reading this review. Please open an issue on the repository's GitHub page about this, and perhaps we can get to the bottom of why this restart is necessary.

Io l'ho usato per sfoltire alcune cartelle, usando solo il "subject" come ciretrio di uguaglianza.
Che per altro è la ragione per cui mi ero messo alla ricerca di addon.

This worked very well for me, Thunderbird 78.8.0 on Windows 10. I did have to tweak the settings a bit following the advice in the other reviews. I found it surprisingly fast finding the dupes.

This will not install on my TB 78.7.1 (32-bit). It complains that the file is corrupt. I've tried this a few times over a couple of weeks. Always says the download is corrupt.

It works on TB 78.7.1 _IF_ the settings are right.
Go to Extra->AddOnSettings->RemoveDuplicate
In the right panel (comparison settings) i had to set:
- compare adresses
- From
- To
- CC to
- Status
- Message ID
- Number of lines
- time of sending
- Subject
- Message Text
Unset:
- size
- folders
Comparison time: Minutes

Would be nice if the add on would have a basic working setup.

I agree with alex912. It does nothing on T'Bird 78.8. I have used prior versions for years successfully, but not now.

Unfortunately this tool does not appear to do anything at all. There does not appear to be any documentation.
I tried the suggestions found in other reviews. Regardless, it always immediately says no duplicates found, before it has time to search, and I know that is not correct.
Very disappointing as I need a tool to remove duplicates.
Please let me know when there is documentation available and the tool works.
If and when it does work, I would like to donate for it.

It Works Fine read 'nothings review' 30 Nov 2020 to use.
Ie the configuration panel is found via :
Top Menu --- Tools - Add-on Options etc

Add-on nearly useless because not configurable - just no such page as "Options" for this add-on.
