I took the liberty of fixing the version chcking so that it now works with Firefox 3.5 and beyond.
I uploaded the file to a few freehosts:

Que desgracia.... al actualizar FX siempre hay autores que deciden dejar el trabajo a un lado..... Maldición..... al igual que con "Paste and go"...

Here is an update to Mattallyc's instructions:
Ensure you change the "maxVersion" (I set it to 3.6), not the "version" at the beginning of the file.
Also, when editing from within 7zip, double check to ensure you change was actually saved.

I love this extension, but I can't get it to install by following Mattallyc's directions. So, I guess I am off to find the same functionality in another extension until this one is updated.

Further to my info below: you can download the xpi file from http://twanno.mozdev.org/tabclicking/installation.html and where I mention changing to 3.5 the bit you need to change is between the em:maxVersion tags.

To get it to work with FF3.5:
Save xpi file to desktop (click ignore version check then right click and save link as). open xpi file in 7-Zip and edit install.rdf, change value to 3.5. Save and exit. Open Add-on window in FF and then drag and drop xpi file into add-on window to install.
Use at own risk! I've not experienced any problems but I only use double-click to copy tab (which works), the rest is untested.
Hope this helps.
(Only 4 stars due to FF3.5 hassle).

Very useful tiny add-on. I prefer this to any other bloated tab extension!
Hopefully this will be compatible with FF3.5 ;)
