Accent Letters puts a button in Thunderbird's compose window. Click it, find the letter, and it is typed where your cursor is. No layout to learn, no key codes to memorise, no switching to another app and pasting.
SEARCH FOR THE LETTER HOWEVER YOU THINK OF IT
Every one of the 682 letters can be found by:
• the letter itself — type é
• its name — "e acute", "o slash", "n tilde"
• what it looks like — "two dots", "little hat", "squiggle"
• a language — "spanish", "vietnamese", "polish", "turkish"
• a code point or Alt code — "00e9", "0233"
Filter by any of 55 languages to see only the letters that language uses. Letters you use often rise to the top on their own, and you can star the ones you always want to hand.
IN THE COMPOSE WINDOW, IN THE MAIL WINDOW
From the compose toolbar, a click types the letter into your message — and a single Undo removes just that letter, because it goes through Thunderbird's own editor. From the main toolbar, where there is nothing to type into, a click copies the letter to the clipboard instead.
IT WORKS OFFLINE, AND IT STAYS THAT WAY
All 682 letters are a file inside the add-on. There is no server, no account, no sign-in, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. The add-on does not read the message you are writing, does not read your mailboxes, contacts or accounts, and makes no network request of any kind — not even to us.
WHERE THE LETTERS COME FROM
Unicode 16.0.0 and CLDR 48.2.0, not a hand-typed list. Each letter carries its official Unicode name, the languages that use it in their standard spelling, its code point and its Windows Alt code.
