Besides it is (was) a great addon, the dev also provided short but clear explanation about 57+ (which Firefox devs stubbornly failed to do). Hey, Mozilla - here is CEO for you, right on this page!

It would be nice if there was a function in startup master to start thunderbird minimized. I have quite a lot of accounts in thunderbird and it takes some time after entering the passwort until everything is loaded and ready. In the meantime i do something else, and its quite annoying when the thunderbird window pops finally up and then interrupts e.g. typing in another window.

I intend to port it, but unfortunately the new webextension API doesn't provide the necessary functions yet. Chances are that the add-on will be broken for a while after the release of Firefox 57 until the API is implemented in Firefox.

... on windows. But clicking “cancel” will still produce plenty of prompts for master password. Better to chose “Quite” if “cancel”. To keep it clean.
Would be nice with a “pin code” function, i.e. a few characters that is only valid for a few attempts and then have to use the “real” long password.

When you installed the add-on, you were asked if you want to quit if the dialog is cancelled. You can still change it in the extension settings.

I'm using version 1.6.2 with TB 52.1.1. 64-Bit on Ubuntu Mate 16.04 and NEVER had any problems with it so far. Using email and shared web calendar accounts along with my IMAP and POP email made me have to supply my master password 3 times when TB started (by showing me independent 3 login prompts while TB's UI was already open - I didn't like that).
This is now streamlined to 1 login before TB's user interface even appears. That's exactly what I need it for and it does a perfect job here so far. Thanks for this addon!!

Currently not working on ThunderBird 52.1.1 but I'm confident it will soon!

You should really open up some account for donations, or, get directly in touch with the dev team to correct this once for all, this is really an embarassing issue!

You can either use StartupMaster 1.6.2 with Thunderbird 52 or StartupMaster 1.6.3 with Thunderbird 53+. I've marked 1.6.3 as incompatible with Thunderbird 52, I'm not sure why Thunderbird allowed the upgrade in the first place. (You can downgrade to previous versions by following the "Show compete version history" link in the "Version information" accordion.)

After updating to FF53, FF53 will not start. I'm lucky to have some computer knowledge so I have started FF in safe mode and do some diagnostics, and found this add-on to be the problem. But for the average joe, the only thing they have is frustration and turn away from FF. I myself has switched to chrome for 1 day before i found out the cause, if I'm not a FF lover I'm afraid I will just left FF and use other browser instead. How FF can detect faulty add-on is something Mozilla needs to address.

This is actually a Firefox bug. StartupMaster 1.6.2 was explicitly marked incompatible with Firefox 53, but Firefox only disables (or upgrades) the addon after the first successful startup, which never happens. I've implemented a workaround, but you need to upgrade StartupMaster before you upgrade Firefox, otherwise there isn't much I can do to help you. I can't touch the old version already installed on your computer.

I also wondered that FF does not start after upgrade to 53. Safe mode did, obviously silently updating this addon, so the next start worked.

BUT: It did not ask for the password on startup! Did a quick research and found there were no options for this addon (1.6.3). So I had to manually remove the update and do a clean install again. Now it works as before!

UPDATE: Now version 1.6.3 already installs on FF52. I verified with my existing profile by re-installing FF52. It first disabled StartupMaster 1.6.3 (the one for 53 only), updated to the AMO version 1.6.3 (for 52-53) and it worked. Then I did another update to FF53 and it still works.

Instant panic time when my Firefox would not work after the upgrade to 53 (via Linux Mint 18.1). Going to safe mode and updating my add-ons did the trick, which is when I found it was this add-on and how quickly it had been fixed!
Obviously you care and are on the ball - I wish there were more like you in this world!

Дополнение отличное, но обновил лису до релизной 53-ей, и лиса не запускается, удалил {506d044e-41fa-4cc8-9dc6-9ff70e96eebf}.xpi из папки extensions , и лиса запустилась, во избежание подобных недоразумений, рукожопам-программистам лисы нужно лучше своё творение тестировать.
Но судя по отзывам "...StartupMaster causes Firefox 53.x (current Aurora) to crash....", об этой проблеме было известно ещё 31 января 2017-го...
