Slow and unresponsive. Constant freezing when collecting feeds as well as freezing entire Firefox browser. Too bad that this once nice feed reader became so bad. Avoid.

I've been using Newsfox for a long time and recently attempted to switch to other feed readers and finally came back.
I love NewsFox's simple and easy to use design. As I discovered while testing other readers, NewsFox makes it easy to bring up all posts in an individual layout, allowing me to enjoy each story on its own.
My big problem is that when it updates, it always freezes up the browser. I was using the feed reader Brief and it managed to update without freezing the browser. (I have 4GB of RAM installed, so this isn't a RAM issue.) On certain feeds, it updates old posts that have not been updated, even when I told it not to update old posts on that feed.
So, much as I hate these faults, I do love what's right with it. I hope it can get better soon.

With all the news articles on the web, it's nearly impossible to keep up to date with them all. When using NewsFox, I'm able to keep up with all my favorite websites, and read their latest content. All my favorite blogs in one place!

а то он загнулся.
NewsFox - это не Brief. Если Brief "загнулся" - каждый может попробовать его "разогнуть", исходники свободно доступны. Достаточно приложить усилия (или заинтересовать других).

good addon, but too heavy.
Two improvments are most necessary:
*When NewsFox tab is not opened it doesnt update feeds. It should.
*In Search folder, search by few different keywords. (i mean it need OR operator)
For my bad english i am sorry. In Russian, just in case:
*Нужно что б ленты обновлялись даже если вкладка NewsFox закрыта.
*В поисковой папке, не хватает оператора ИЛИ.

If it's bug, then it meant to be fixed:) For me personally 70mb wont be much of problem, even though i doubt that there is no other way to do background update...
Looks like for now i will have to use several rss readers.

Reminds me why I like SeaMonkey. Like FF just the same,
this Addon keeps different functions in it's own place. FF can get
too busy trying to cram Addons. This news feed reader is very good.

Good, but needs improvement:
1) Explain what do you mean by "Delete if not in feed" option. How can the article be not in the feed?
2) By default, "Delete old articles" option set to yes. It should be "No" - users must make the decisions themselves. Otherwise they may be surprised if some of the articles will be deleted without they knowing it.
3) {Bug?] Clicking on "Get Help for NewsFox" and "NewsFox Team" have no effect for me.
4) Can you make the auto update for the tag tree.
4.1) Currently, the categories with no articles become unbolded and go down the tag tree. can they just be deleted since they contain no info? (In fact, sometimes they do get deleted. I don`t know what is the regularity).
4.2) After the feed update, if there are the articles with the categories currently not in the tree, you may need to re-expand the tree to see them all.
I would give 4/5 and recommend using it as one of NewsFox`s advantages is ability to recognize the articles` categories. Not many addons are able to work with them.

It is lacking one key feature that will make or brake it for me :
- synchronizing so I do not loose my feeds and I can read on from any computer anywhere.
Without it not much appeal.
It might be useful for you: the third tip from the wiki page http://newsfox.mozdev.org/drupal/content/usage-tips
"When you choose the location of the NewsFox directory (Main Options/General tab), you can choose a location on a flash drive and take your NewsFox directory with you. You can also use the same directory for two copies of NewsFox, for example if you have a dual-boot system."

I like this add-on better than the others. One thing I would like to see. No big deal though. Unless there already is an option, I'd like to see an option to get the icon out of the add-on bar. I use the All-in-one Sidebar and use a lot of icons in there. When I do put the icon there, I cannot get it out of the add-on bar. As I said, this is still my favorite add-on.

Only feed viewer that lets me not only have same feed in multiple folders (tho that is really more about non-firefox based ones). Doesn't force me into the sidebar to interfere with my tabs along side and
MOST IMPORTANTLY: Lets me select wheter a given feed should be retrieved as the HTML of the real page or displayed as HTML-JS or as the RSS/ATOM so I don't have to click all the time to get past RSS hooks without content.

Большое спасибо за новую версию 1.0.6.3.3 для Firefox 4: две недели мучений с чтением rss дорогого стоили ((( Из пожеланий: можно ли чтобы при нестандартном языке интерфейса браузера (скажем, казахский или украинский) в качестве языка News Fox можно было бы выбрать русский, а не англ по дефолту? Ещё раз спасибо.
Большое спасибо за совет, который Вы мне написали. Хотя он и не помог, однако решение проблемы подсказал. После обновления до 4.01 все дополнения, в том числе и NewsFox оказались на английском языке. Язык интерфейса Firefox оставался русским. Установка Russian Language Pack 4.01 тоже ничем не помогла. Но дополнение Quick Locale Switcher и повторный выбор языка интерфейса Russian позволил всем дополнениям работать на русском языке. Ещё раз Вас благодарю за Ваш труд.

Doesn't it work to put multiple languages in the Firefox options at Tools > Options > Content Tab > Languages? Put Kazakh, then Ukranian, then Russian, .... More explicit directions at http://whatismyipaddress.ricmedia.com/help/browser_language/firefox/ although the location of the option has changed since then.
