Version 4.0.3
People Panel brings the idea of the discontinued "Xobni" tool back to Thunderbird: while you read an email, it shows you a complete profile of the sender at a glance – who they are, what you've corresponded about, and which files you've exchanged.
What People Panel shows
Contact profile: name, email address, company, job title, phone number and department – pulled automatically from your address books.
Communication statistics: total number of messages exchanged, split by received/sent, plus the date of your first and most recent message.
Shared message history: a chronological list of your correspondence with this person. Click an entry to open that message.
Exchanged attachments: an overview of the files you've sent to or received from this contact, with file size and date.
How to use People Panel
There are two entry points:
People icon in the left Spaces bar – click the person icon on the far left (where Mail, Calendar and Address Book live). People Panel opens as its own space and shows the profile of the most recently opened sender.
Person button above an open message – open an email. A People Panel button appears in the toolbar above the message; clicking it opens the sender's profile right next to the message.
Working inside the panel
Click an entry in the history list to open the corresponding email.
Select multiple entries in the lists: single-click to select, Shift-click for a range, double-click to open, right-click for the context menu.
Selected attachments can be saved or attached to a new email via batch actions.
The attachment context menu offers "Open email" to jump back to the source message.
Notes
The search scans your locally available messages. For complete results, keep your IMAP folders synchronized for offline use.
For performance, the scan is capped per direction; on very large mailboxes a note appears in the panel.
Only local address-book and message data is used; no data is sent to third parties.
