Causes problems with Thunderbird 20.0!
If Thunderbird 20 is installed along with Correct Identity 1.3.5 you cannot reply to any of your emails!!
Please fix this as soon as possible and I will change my rating!

This add-on did what I wanted it to do, albeit only when I installed azurewelkin's fixed version for Thunderbird v13 (see the comment just before this one).
Some history: Somehow the domain-based automatic identity selection had stopped working at some point, perhaps on an automatic upgrade to Thunderbird v13. Previously I was able to reply-to a message, and my stock Thunderbird would properly select the identity based on the domain of the original message's recipient, not just the entire email address. This more "fuzzy" matching meant that if I received a message at "catchall@customdomain.com", replying would automatically select my identity for "MarkerB@customdomain.com"
However, the add-on does need to be trained first, by editing the "detection" option for each identity I want to autodetect the domain. I simply select the identity, and add the corresponding domain as an alias. For my example above, I would select the identity for "MarkerB@customdomain.com" from the pull-down, and enter an alias of "customdomain.com"

I have been experiencing the same problem as avfan (see the review below this one) ever since upgrading to Thunderbird v13. In short Correct Identity seems to always choose the same identity for some of us.
I found the culprit to be Thunderbird v13 including the "Delivery-To" address in the recipient list passed to Correct Identity. For those of us who forward all our emails to one account, this causes Correct Identity to choose this account every time (if it is ordered before the other identities, which is usually the case).
Instead of waiting for the author to update this fantastic add-on, I got impatient and tweaked the code a little bit. I have put the new xpi file and the explanations at the following page:
http://www.stanford.edu/~xidong/correctidentity/
I thought this might be helpful for other people looking for the reason and fix of the same failure, before the next update of Correct Identity addresses it. Thanks for maintaining such a terrific add-on though!
[Reply to the Developer on 07/11/2012:]
I thought choosing the first address in the recipient list that matches any of the identities was nicer, because if you receive an email addressed to one of your identity, but also CC'ed to your other identity, this fix would choose the one that the email is actually addressed to. Your current code selects the first identity (in the order that Thunderbird has on file) that matches any of the recipients, regardless of whether they are in the CC list or not.
This is perhaps a personal preference (albeit a lot of people, if not most, would perhaps prefer choosing the To address over the CC ones). If you could put a simple radio box to let the user choose the way that this is handled, that would be great.
Hi azurewelkin.
I heard this problem from other users but couldn't figure out what their problem was. You tackled the cause exactly, thanks very much for that and sharing it here. I am about to submit v1.3.5 which fixes it, though keeping BC. I however do not include your two other tweaks, if you have a really close look you'll notice iterating hints the other way around will not make the result differ.
Thanks and regards,
Dennis

This add-on has been an absolute must and a life saver for me for several years now. But, it has stopped working and none of the alternative add-ons I've tried work either. Something they changed in this build of TB has broken the ability for these add-ons to do their job. Please make a fix soon!
(Edit, July 3, 2012):
Dennis - thanks for your fast response! I disabled all other addons and still no luck. I am running v1.3.4 of Correct Identity, Win7 Pro SP1 64bit. I rolled back to Thunderbird v12.0.1 and Correct Identity works again.
Thanks for your review. I am running 13.0.1 and cannot seem to confirm your issue, it is working fine for me. When I disable the addon the default identity for the account is chosen, when I enable the addon the correct identity is chosen at which I recieved the e-mail. I have several other addons installed which might interfere with my addon, like Virtual Identity, but they do not seem to. Can you please try disabling all other addons, check if it is working, then one by one enable the other addons and detect which one interferes. Hope that helps, if the addons is not working any way, please send me your OS, version, etcetera.

This extension is simply excellent and a must have if you use multiple identities together with Gmail.

Doesn't seem to be doing anything at all.

I love your correct identity Thunderbird addon, but found a problem. When I hit reply all, TB correctly figures out that flname@domain.tld should come from first@domain.tld. But flast@domain.tld is still added to the recipient list. Think you could fix this, or point me to a settings hack that will?
Also, you might consider adding the ability to setup a list of addresses, and if one of those addresses shows up in the recipient list, the system might want suggest using a specific return address (if its not already selected). Sometimes I hit compose when TB has a folder on another account selected and I forget to change the reply address.
It would also be nice if I could map another person's email address to an alias...
Thanks for your reaction. I unfortunately do not have time now or in the near future to add/change functionalities of this addon, it just does what I needed. You might want to have a look at Virtual Identity which offers a lot more, a.o. the things that you suggested. See www.absorb.it/virtual-id .

Somehow it always chooses the wrong identity from a mailing list, and it must be changed manually.
Also, it doesn't let new identities to be created on the fly.

Hello, I would like to send the Italian localization for this addon. Can you give me a link to your website or an email address?
Thanks

I'd like to second boyska's request below for the identity to be set correctly when composing new messages, not just when replying.

Am afraid the previous reviewer, LanceHaverkamp, is wrong. This addon does work with multiple identities. I'm not sure what Lance was doing wrong, but when an account is set up with multiple identities you can choose which one will be the default. Great addon - just what I wanted!

As far as I can tell this only works with multiple ACCOUNTS, not multiple Identities. I have one account with a few identities, it's never been able to select any identity other than the default. The extension would be better titled "Correct Account."

it is a great Add-on, but if I send a file directly about the context, it doesn't send it about the identity.

Great Add-on. Thanks!!!
Here's a version of 1.3.2 that will work on Thunderbird 3.1. http://5xl.com/addons/correct_identity-1.3.2-tb-Thunderbird-3.1.xpi

This extension doesn't work with Thunderbird 3.1. Will there be an updated version?

It would be very nice to enable it not only for replying to messages, but even when composing new ones.
You just click "compose", then write the "To:" field; based on this, CorrectIdentity could choose the... correct identity

Very nice, but it breaks the native feature which filters all of your configured identities from the CC list. It might be nice to allow you to choose which identities you want filtered out from the CC list (or at least filter them all, as tbird does natively). As currently implemented in 1.3.2 it only filters the identity you are using to send the mail.

This seems to stop the Edit as new menu item from working in TB3.

Please make it compatible with different language versions of Thunderbird because since my main inbox has a different name than regular english one, I guess that`s why it just won`t work. Thanks.
