nobody needs a random sig that is changing every 30 secs....nice try...
random by click or shortcut, out of a selectable cookie-file...that would do the job. like "signature switch"

belive it.

Sorry to say, that this is the wrong way to select a random signature.
There is no reason to read one signature file and write to another signature file every few seconds, when the signature is only needed when writing a new message.
The right way would be to open a file with signatures and select one, when composing a new message.
Like Tagzilla does it:

EN : a "howto use" is missing...
FR : il manque juste un mode d'emploi...

Very nice. It took a while for me to figure it out though. I may be a little dense, but the files from which the randomizer chooses from *have to* end in ".txt," while, if they actually contain HTML, the file they are being saved to has to have a ".html" extension.

Solution de compromis:
Pour paramétrer la signature, n'utiliser que le "fortune cookie".

This is quite well thought out, and gives me exactly what I want, which is randomly rotating signatures. I ran into the problem reported by leyabe, that it would not accept my source "cookie" file -- but I found that it would if I first chose a directory as the source, then switched to a single cookie file.
Given its status as an experimental add-on, any deficiencies like this are quite minor. I'm delighted with it.

Looks promising, but I cannot get the source file to save. I browse for a file, click ok but the source file column stays blank and no signatures make it to my target file. I tried uninstalling the extension and re-installing it to no avail.

Though the interface is very user-friendly, I wonder what the "target file" and prefix/suffix are dedicated to. A bit of howto would be nice.
Also I noticed your smart extension was missing a locale structure, so
I created one to be grabbed here:

I suggest you should submit it to
http://www.babelzilla.org to get more locale languages for free (currently en-US only)

Is there any way to add an option where you can choose a folder for the signatures? I have a folder full of .txt files that I use for my signatures(instead of one huge file), I did it this way because Mac OSX Mail allows you to pick a folder and then it randomly picks a .txt file to add in every time you do a new message.
