The duplicates now in my address book is an Android issue from my Galaxy Note, not a Thunderbird issue.

I have used this plugin for over a year without issue but since the last Thunderbird upgrade (31.2.0) I am suffering with thousands and thousands of duplicate contacts if I create the new contact through Thunderbird. If created on my Android phone or gmail web there is no issue. "Merge duplicates" is enabled in gmail web as is "Check duplicates before adding/modifying a contact" in the plugin options. It would have been a five star rating but this elementary bug that has crept in results in a three.

Hello - I've used this for a little but have had ongoing issues with random non-synchronisation of some contacts and am using another extension. I need to remove the Google Contacts 0.6.40 from Thunderbird but can't work out how as there is no "remove" option - something to be aware of and can you please advise how I can do this?

This add-on scrambles notes in Google Contacts!! After running it, I found a note for a business contact that was a candid review of somebody I took home after a party six years ago—on my phone!! This was the most disturbing of scores of examples, and is an absolute deal-breaker. Worst. Add-On. Ever.

Sadly I had to remove this again because there were too many data inconsistencies:
- Some contacts from Google were not shown in TB at all
- Sometimes deleting or moving contacts in TB would trigger a dozen JS popups about invalid contacts
- Sometimes a deleted contact showed up again
I do not trust my contacts to a system with those kind of problems.

Works perfect, exactly what I need.

Google Contacts causes the same problem as Cai reported on your other add-on, Priority Swithcher on June 24, 2014: blocks TB31.1.1's abiltity to switch character encoding. Tried on Ubuntu 12.04 & LinuxMint 17 (based on Ubuntu 14.04). Enabling the add-on makes switching character encoding to yield the following javascript error message: "ReferenceError: BrowserSetForcedCharacterSet is not defined". By disabling the add-on makes switching chracter encoding working again.

Run windows' task manager, Install this add-on, restart Thunderbird and watch its memory usage climbing up and up (I stopped it at ~500MB... usually my nominal Thunderbird + many adds-on memory consumption is about 130MB).

IT WORKS with 24.5.0
why previous reviewer says it doesn't ?...
I just tested it with contacts, and even folder creation.
It instantly synced with my google mail account.
So again, YES IT WORKS with 24.5...
and It works great.

Sometime contacts add in thunderbird are not sync. It's help if in the options, you don't chose anything in the Experimental tab.

Worked fine for a few months, and now thousands (25,000!) duplicates. Thunderbird is INCREDIBLY slow. I have disabled the add-on, but would love to reactivate when the bug is fixed. Otherwise I love it!

I just installed this into Thunderbird, and it immediately deleted any of my contacts and mailing lists that were not also in my Google contacts. Thanks a lot.

It works very well on GNOME 3, using online accounts data from GNOME. Thanks a lot dude, you're awesome!

Excellent! Thank you, very useful. Works very well. I'll echo other happy users... use 2 step authentication and application specific passwords for your Gmail account!

If you are using the extension with an account that has two step verification make sure you use an "Application specific password" and NOT your usual login.
I can confirm that this Add-On does work.
