Hi Philippe,
I updated to version 25.4 and cardbook has stopped working with the same Thunderbird 58 beta 2 that I've been using with the previous cardbook versions.
Is it me?
Thanks

Nice add-on, very customisable ( types, new attributes) , import / export.
with large number of contact (1600+) some operations can be slow (i.e. mass change of a category), even "never ending" , but a stop and restaet has solved the issue .
anyway it seems to better to stop / restart afte r a massive change or load .
how to configure SIP usage ?
solved : the VOIP agent ( in my case jitsi) has already registered a SIP handler in Windows
hence , "just" declare a new IMPP N-uplets , under "Telephone" , as
code : SIP ,
label : SIP ,
protocol : sip
( the important thing is the protocol)
then add you numbers to contacts, including the prefix ( if there is a needed prefix ) ex 0 xx xx xx xx xx of outside national call , 0 00 xx xxx xx xx for Int'all call ( from france)
so it works fine

Hi Philippe,
The first contact with the module: I lost ALL my iCloud contacts because I just activated the Read/Write mode. Workaround: Read mode and reload the iCloud server archive of my contacts. All is perfect in read mode: easy to use,
I would like to use the read/write mode but I would like to know how to use this mode without angst.
One more thing, the iClouds groups are not managed (they are not displayed)
Good module the synchronisation from my devices is perfect.

The add-on appears to be quite powerful, but I am unable to find any documentation for it at all. The User interface is not sufficiently facile that it's obvious how to perform certain functions, such as importing the Thunderbird address book, or syncing multiple instances of CardBook.
The greatest tool in the world is literally almost useless if users can't tell how to use it.

I hope the dev/s will get into the core development team and integrates this into TB.
We just asked the dev about a change and he was just astoundinly nice to us.

I just discovered this addon, and it's what I was looking for.
I had one big issue with it; it breaks new mail composition address auto complete. I contacted the dev, he responded quickly to help me figure out what the problem was. It's resolved, 5 Stars for a great addon and great support.

It was great when I first used it. Now it's totally screwed. Does not work and has not worked for some time now.
Phillipe, you should do something about it!

Hi Philippe, I have been using and negotiating the ends and outs of CardBook for about a month now. It is quite extensive and somewhat overwhelming IMO. That being said I can just use features that suits my style. However the reason for 2 stars is this; maybe there is something I'm missing, but updating or adding contacts to my regular contact list will not sync to CardBook. I have to make changes manually. Also if I make changes in CardBook I must manually make the changes in the other contact list. Its quite an aggravation and counter productive. I'm maintaining two separate contact lists within the same mail client...Just doesn't work for me and I no longer use CardBook. One other irritation; I can only access CardBook from the tools drop-down. It should be incorporated on the tool bar with its own button. I have not removed it, yet, because of time invested in set-up and learning curve.
Please let me know if there is a work-around or setting I have missed. Thanks...
Up-Date; I finally found the "switch to CardBook tab" on the tool bar all the way on the right...I'll give you 3 stars!
My Thunderbird version is; 52.5.0
Acer laptop V3.571.9646
windows 10 pro
intel 4th Gen i7-3632QM @ 2.20 GHz each core 64 bit
1 TB ssd drive
16 GB of memory
Note; I have tried to update Thunderbird, says I have the latest, no updates available. Seems odd that llucps said on November 28th, doesn't work on his version 58.0b1. I'm not sure what to believe as to version.

If i update a contact in the Cardbook, I expect THAT contact to also be updated in my Thunderbird contact book and visa versa. IT DOES NOT
This review is for a previous version of the add-on (24.2).CardBook is an address book totally independant from the Thunderbird standard address book. It aim is to fully replace it.

If CardBook didn't exist I'd either need to create it myself or move to a different mail eco-system. This and Lightning make Thunderbird complete.
When I wrote this review four days ago I only gave CardBook four stars. It had worked well for me from the start, but about six weeks ago stopping validating with Baikal on SSL (I'm on 23.5, but 23.4 was the same).
I contacted Philippe, who responded immediately, and the issue was resolved in a few minutes. It turns out CardBook uses Basic Auth, and Baikal was configured to expect Digest Authentication. An easy fix, and I couldn't be more impressed with Philippe's support for this plugin.

Very helpful add-on. Really great!
I have difficulty however to add new categories.
with Google contacts it's not possible to add categories because of a bug in Google CardDAV API...

Was off to a promising start but no longer synchronizes new contacts from the server. No error message to identify the problem, just -- the new contacts never show up.

Version Thunderbird: 52.3.0
