With the lastest version fixing the BCC and encryption issue another *MAJOR BUG* was introduced - every time you write a new message with a BCC and without *ever* use encryption you are asked how to handle the BCC adress and obviously encrypt the message get selected - please respect the global settings for sign only

An essential addon in this day and age when our privacy is no longer respected. Enigmail makes it easy to make it a habit to use encryption whenever you can.

This add-on makes me feel like a kid again. Encoding messages to friends....and really it was ONE friend. And he never responded. That was dark.
BUT!... I love this app because it's real world crypto-security.

Ich nutze Enigmail seit Jahren ohne Probleme. Sehr gute Arbeit. Danke!
Das Einzige, was mir nicht gefällt, ist, dass man die Passphrase nicht mehr aus dem Zwischenspeicher löschen kann, da diese nun vom gpg-agent verwaltet wird.

This extension works very well, but I dislike the default of plain text signing. It's a great way to annoy everyone on a mailing list... It seems the rationale is to have better support for receivers using bad mail clients, but I doubt they're verifying emails via copy-paste if they can't be bothered to use another client.

Bonjour,
J'ai du mal à voir ce qu'apporte Enigmail par rapport aux options de base de Thunderbird:
.Chiffrer ce message
.Signer numériquement ce message
Merci

Alright, I gave it a look and it can't install in FM 24.2.0b1- but it could install in TB 24.2.
I also went to the support page which then insisted on creating an account at Sourceforge. I no longer trust SF due to it's recent changes and the account also could not be created no matter how much I juggled things around. Even if that did work that is an awful lot of steps!
If it can be modified to work correctly I will come back and write a better review. Until then it is 1*

Fonctionne parfaitement sous Win7 ou Fedora19.
Dommage que ça ne fonctionne qu'en texte brut, mais on va pas chipoter :)

It's a wonderful tool and essential for secure mail sending. It is easy to use under Linux and Windows upto Win7.It doesn't work with Thunderbird 24.1.1 and Windows 8.But at least it is better to do without Win 8 than Enigmail!

Hello Patrick, unfortunately I don't see a possibility to answer to your statement directly, so I would like to tell you in this way, that I made the experiences with Enigmail and Thunderbird in Win8 by my self. I have screenshots, which show, that Enigmail 1.9 is not compatible to Thunderbird 24.1.1
I run several Linux systems as well as Win 7/8/8.1, but it is only in Win 8 and 8.1. not compatible.
I don't know why.
Why would Enigmail not work on Windows 8? I cannot see any reason for this, and I know of many users who use this combination successfully.

Mandatory addon for Thunderbird. Works flawlessly with the newest version. If you value your privacy, this is your best choice for protecting yourself.

Encryption and decryption of mails works perfectly but searching for a content in the mails is not possible any more. With this restriction it is not possible for me to use enigmail.

Just wanted to install the latest version but it got this message: "Enigmail could not be installed because it is not compatible with Thunderbird 12.0.1." Do you have any plans to make Enigmail compatible? Many thanks!
This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.5.2).Thunderbird 12 is not quite recent anymore and has known security bugs. I'd recommend you upgrade to the current stable version of Thunderbird - v17. Alternatively, you'll find a working version of Enigmail by clicking on "view other versions". You would need Enigmail v1.4.2 for Thunderbird 12.

This plugin isn't working. Whenever I "encrypt" my e-mails, the recipient - when asked to enter the passphrase - is able to just view them by just closing the window. This add-on is either not working or I'm doing something terribly wrong. Hm...
