I fully concur with what most other users have written. It was a sad day yesterday and I still have a headache today. Also, I'm seriously pondering quitting my job and taking up gardening... :( Thank you so much for creating this awesome add-on and my apologies that it took losing it before I wrote a review. Better late than never? Automatic updates never, ever again activated, in any software.

I have now sampled FOUR different addons that are being sold as being some sort of session manager.
They ain't.
Most don't even have essential features, like being able to handle separate windows when saving/restoring a session, or the ability to append a session to the selected window. Instead, I get to load everything, in a new window, or nothing.
Please, please, please.
PLEASE.
Update this for FF57, or FF Quantum, or whatever the Masters of the Mozillaverse are calling it this week. PLEASE!!

Really liked the session managers add-on. It was the only reason I used Firefox. I liked that I could save the session & exit, reboot my computer, start up FireFox and boom! just like it was before reboot. It was a clear advantage over other browsers. Now I see no reason to use Firefox as my primary browser. Will Session Manager be updated to work with Firefox Quantum?

Why oh why are you not compatible with Version 57??? This sucks. The alternative blows.

Use this incredibly useful addon everyday as I work in multimedia areas and save, backup and send sessions for various different projects. I won't update Firefox until this addon can support it.

This extension is fantastic, and I've used it for years. Really a shame it's going away.
For everyone who wants to recover their sessions, they're actually just text files in your Firefox profile folder. I wrote a small app to read the files and show you your windows and tabs: https://nstoler.com/misc/sessionrecover
All the processing will be done on your computer, without sending any data to my server. But if you'd rather do it yourself, I wrote a Python script you can run on your own computer:
https://gist.github.com/NickSto/74dc6e6887bf4785bedc09d2bea2bf9b
Just run it like so:
$ ./session-manager.py -tu ~/.mozilla/firefox/8h177b3u.default/sessions/backup-2.session
If you're not able to run Python on the command line, you could still try to read the session file manually.
See here for instructions on finding your Firefox profile folder:
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-where-firefox-stores-user-data
The sessions are stored in there, in a folder named "sessions". Each session is a text file ending in ".session" that you can open in TextEdit, Notepad, or gedit.
Each file is 5 lines, with the 5th being a big JSON jumble that contains the urls of all your open tabs for that session. It gets a bit tricky from here, but if you want you can just Ctrl+F for '"url":' and find all possible tabs. The complication is that most of those urls aren't the currently open page in the tab, but a page from its history. The last item in the "entries" list will be the currently open page in the tab.

Though it's not compatible with quantum, I like this addon very much.

I have been using Session Manager (SM) for years now. I recently upgraded Firefox from v56 to v57. After several days of trying to get it to work right, I uninstalled it and reinstalled v56. It created a new profile which included my previous saved sessions. I also added back SM v0.8.1.13. However, I am not able to access the sessions as the icon on the toolbar is grayed-out. It also does not appear on the Tool menu. I am not using Private Mode, and I did not check the box to not display SM in the Tools menu. Ubuntu 14.04

So does this mean Mozilla will never change it so this plugin will work on newer versions?
I guess I'll try to get an older version installed separately just to use this add-on, if it will never work on newer versions again.
The other session add-ons just are not the same, and don't like using them.

Was the best. Everything you could need. Don't know what to go to next. Any chance of getting a Lite version like DownThemAll?

So disapointed it doesn't work in the new firefox version... I was really pleased with it and now I lost all my data :-(

Well Mozilla you blew it. With quantum there is no support for half of my favourite extensions, Session Manager on top of that list.
Bye Bye Mozilla!! I leave for Chrome. Michael, I hope you leave this sinking ship as well.

Excellent and powerful software, I just hope it gets updated for Firefox Quantum.

Fantastic, manages my sessions and tabs, the only add-on that allows me to work properly, as I should be able to.
The fact that FireFox has failed to keep this add-on workable is a great shame.
I began to use it when I had system issues which crashed the PC, this Session Manager helped autosave my sessions and has many other features - frankly it is the only add-on that does what it does.
I have relied on this add-on for years now and refuse to work without it.
I will only work with Firefox versions that are compatible with it.
