The best of the video downloaders by far. No fuss. No trouble. Simple and unintrusive.

This is it! I searched my ass off for a way to download videos from websites that try to hard-code anti leeching schemes. This add-on by-passes that shit and reads the exact link the video is to be downloaded from. It's simple, it's sweet - but most of all the damn thing works flawlessly for me.
It picks up were the add-on "Download Helper" leaves off. Download helper is great, but if the particular site is not listed, it will now see the video. But this will!

awesome! one simple fix I would make..I have it set on "always ask where to save the videos" but it doesn't remember the last location I saved in so I have to click through from the same starting point. if this can be fixed, this would be really awesome!

being disabled i have days on end when going out is impossible & its highly likely without this add-on i would have gone insane without it. You press a button & the flash content you want to see is immediately downloqaded. Simple as that. I don't know how thses cyber-alchemists do it but I'm SO glad they do. Thats real disability support, well done people :-)

Project's dead?
KaaMoS posted on May 22nd asking if this Firefox extension project has died and also said that the project's website was dead.
The website is presently "alive". I used the link provided in the download page here and the website loads just fine. The four main pages in it are all accessible and everything seems to be working there.
I haven't tried this add-on so can't comment on it, but will give a 4-star rating since that's the average with 241 user reviews that've been posted so far. It would be unethical to give less and I can't say 5 since I haven't tried this extension. So I'll give 4.
This add-on is also the second of three recommendations in a how-to article at CNET.com.

I won't provide the url since that might not be accepted in comments here. People reading this and wanting to read the above article can use Google for a site-specific search of CNET, f.e.
Flashget and DownloadHelper are two Firefox add-ons that I have installed and they're useful, but I never do large downloads using the Web browser, because if it crashes or hangs while a download is executing, then I have to restart the browser (when the situation is a hang), and the download will have to be restarted from scratch. So I only use Flashget to redirect downloads to an external application that's only for downloads and the ones I have installed are all much faster than downloads with Firefox. But I'll install and try out the NetVideoHunter add-on. It probably doesn't allow automatic redirection of downloads to a separate application, but maybe it's better than DownloadHelper, and maybe it will work at some websites where these other two add-ons don't.
One immediately appealing feature of NetVideoHunter is that it permits downloading videos in different quality formats when there's more than one available. I don't think the other two add-ons mentioned above provide this functionality, or if they do, they don't prompt the user to make the selection. For that reason, I assume that they don't provide this and it's a great option to have. We may want normal quality, possibly even less when a video file is actually just audio with an image that doesn't change. And we can want highest or next-to-highest quality available.
For that reason alone it'll now be installed. Actually, for that reason and also because this add-on has received plenty of good reviews, as well as having been evaluated by the Mozilla or Firefox developer or QA team.
It must surely deserve at least 4-star ratings.

This is a great addon that I use when I'd like to save a flash video. Most sites don't let you download video without registering and frankly I value my privacy.
Also, if a video is controversial, it may be censored, make sure you have a copy, "just in case."
The developers are good about updating and fixing bugs and they deserve your support!

Excellent program! Works great, but today, when I opened FF, the link on the YouTube page to convert the video to mp3 is gone.

Did this project die?
Known development was until September, 2011.
Also, their website is died.
Is there someone who could continue this project?

An Excellent Add-on which Mozilla Corp has offered for Users, From the Firefox ver7.0 i was using this..it offers an a simple Easy way to download Flash videos from all websites..Once Installed.. u can have it's icon at Toolbar of browser..when u watch any flash content, it automatically blink to indicate u to download if needed. Once i went to calicut-India for college Fest..i didn't take my camcorder on that day.. i felt a bit when i couldn't record that day memories, two days after friends said all videos are available at Youtube ,Twiteer Soon i downloaded all of my memories via NET Video Hunter.. I Strongly Believe this Add-on is the Best for flash content download.

So far this add-on is one of the better ones I've found. It downloads the videos I want and much more. It's much faster than using the download button on YouTube. I love the window that pops up to show me what can be downloaded from what I've watched/listened to.
Very essential in my add-on arsenal. I see another commenter added that it stores cookies. Fastest way to solve this is just to clear your cookies. I scan with Spybot S&D which cleans up my cookies for me before every scan, thus no cookie problem. Whether the cookies are considerable, I know not, I haven't noticed any problems with this add-on and have never had a browser crash because of it.
