This extension is indispensable. Why?
- Makes Thunderbird's search *substantially* faster!
- Can easily search by to: or from:, which I do a lot.
- Powerful boolean AND/OR searches fill a huge gap in Tbird.

I really like what this extension does to my search syntax. I also like the keyboard shortcut for archiving messages. My biggest complaint is that the archive folder is not configurable on a per-account basis. If you have some Gmail and some non-Gmail accounts, it is impossible to find an archive folder name that works for both.

It's a great idea for those who are used to work with the excelente GMail-GUI.
Very useful.

This is a terrific extension, but it _still_ does not enable Gmail's conversation threading. If that's what you want, then vote for this bug:

I found this extension because I was looking for an easy way to archive emails into the Gmail/[All] folder. I do like the idea of the searches, however it always locks up Thunderbird on me.

I've been using this for many months (TB2) and find its searching abilities indispensible! Thanks for a great extension.

Terrible. Expression searches are for programmers not human useable. Having to type the word from to search who a mail has come from is dark age stuff.

the mentioned calculation is workin in the quicksearch bar...but thats the only thing.
searchkeywords like f:foo or from: foo won't find any existing mail in the current folder. tried with tb 2.0.0.18 developer stoped developing in 2007 maybe thats the reason.
also you cannot unbind any keyboard-shortcut, which is really annoying. everytime you press the Y-key, this extension deletes a message (if no archive folder is created before, which is not, because I DO NOT NEED AN ARCHIVE FOLDER, BECAUSE I DO NOT ARCHIVE MY MAILS)
so 2 stars because of the name google...

The most powerful search utility ever for TB. Unfortunately it is of limited use since ctrl-enter (search all folders, create a filter) hangs TB all the time (tested on 5 different computers, tested with different mail accounts)

Espectacular extensión, muy útil y cómoda. Agrega gran facilidad de búsqueda y limpieza en la bandeja de entrada al archivar fácilmente los mensajes a guardar.

Threaded conversations, ie showing grouping sent and received mails from/to the same addresses into threads, is the biggest reason to use GMail's web interface instead of a Thunderbird IMAP account. if this extension did that i would try it.
As far as searching goes, i seem to recall having set this up without an extension using saved searches, but i might be mistaken. does this extension keep track of which account a message was originally received by?
seems promising but doesn't do much for me so far. But then i haven't tried it yet. Thanks!

Good attempt, but, as others have said, it would be good to be compatible with Gmail's location of the Archive folder. I get around this by specifying it, but now that I have a couple of Gmail account this no longer works (one personal, one work).
The other stuff is good, but really, adding this should be near the top of the TODO list.

This is the best add-on for Thunderbird. I have used this ever since it came out. I have recently switched my Gmail settings to IMAP and was able to get the "Archive"(Y key) function to work by chaning the Archive directory to "[Gmail]/All Mail"(minus the quotes).

It would be nice if this was actually compatible with GoogleMail IMAP accounts so you could specify (All Mail) as the archive folder. This is all I really need. Search across all folders is nice. Does this work across all mail accounts too?

I give this two thumbs up for a good idea, and good attempt.
But, I would only use this if it linked message conversations together like gmail. I have grown accustomed to that gmail feature, and when using imap it should liknk them together just like gmail does.

Couldn't get it working but I must admit I didn't try very hard. The archive folder should be called "All Mail" as this is what Gmail actually calls it. Then it would be compatible with people who use Gmails IMAP service through Thunderbird

all i want is a search function to search all my folders. this doesn't work at all. it seems like an obvious add-on that thunderbird hasn't done yet. frustratring.
