Exactly what I needed. Works well so far and is way more reliable than Thunderbirds' own notifications.

Works largely well, but I keep getting notifications for messages I delete from my inbox, no matter what options I set for the account, the inbox folder and the trash folder. That's a bit annoying really. Also, the notifications are delayed by 2 seconds after a message appears in the folder view. Why that? No option to change that.

"delete on click" is a little dangerous, please add a delete button instead! Thanks!

Individual Email Alerts Dont Work:
This would be an extremely Brilliant Add-On, if it fully Worked.
WHAT DOES WORK:
OS: Windows 8.1 Pro x64
Seamonkey Version: 2.38
1. A Single Customisable Alert for ALL Email Accounts to use.
e.g. ALL/Any Email Account(s) successfully will alert via
a customised Audio .MP3 as well as the usual customisable
on-screen alert message (including custom picture file).
WHAT DOES NOT WORK:
Attempting to Utilise Independent Customisable alerts on a per-email account results in ONLY 1 of the customisable alert actually alerting for ALL email accounts.
Could somebody please get permission to fix this add-on, As i have multiple email accounts,
of which it would be preferable to have individual alerts on a per-email account basis.
I would recommend either FireFox Devs, or Seamonkey Devs take over to fix and/or
to incorporate this as a permanent feature of Seamonkey/Thunderbird itself.
RATINGS:
The Idea/Concept: 5 out of 5
Practicality: 2 out of 5
dev here, I tested this out yesterday and it seems to be working fine for me with the latest Seamonkey on windows 8. Are you sure you configured Mailbox Alert and not the standard seamonkey alerts? I realized that this may not be obvious; Mailbox Alert is not configured through the standard preferences/options window, but directly in the right-click popup menu for folders/accounts. See https://tjeb.nl/Projects/Mailbox_Alert/Manual/ for more information (I added a link to this in the addon description now, should have done that earlier).
If this is wrong and it is indeed not working as intended, please drop me a line and I can try to figure out what is going wrong.
FYI I do indeed not have much time for adding features, but the source code is available on github, for those people that want to add features/fixes.

Anyone who's ever used Thunderbird knows about the problems with mail notifications not working properly, which is a bug that has been around for donkey's years and looks like it will never be fixed. I've tried all the other "fixes" including altering the condstore and mail.imap.use_status_for_biff settings using the config editor, but they never worked either.
When I came across this little add-on my hopes were raised, but sadly I spent ages trying to get it to work properly with Thunderbird 31.5.0, but I couldn't. It's very sporadic and not much better than Thunderbird's own effort. The test settings seem to work, but that's about it. It also looks like this add-on is not the developers highest priority either; I don't expect things to improve in the future so I will probably have to uninstall it, pity.
There are a couple of other new mail notification add-ons but the best one I've found is called: "New Mail Attention" and that seems to work perfectly. It's a bit basic and doesn't have any sound or pop-up options, it just flashes and highlights the Thunderbird taskbar shortcut, but at least it does work 100% of the time. The obvious question is after all these years, is why doesn't Thunderbird's own mail notifications work properly; it's a very important and basic function for any mail program? Maybe the Thunderbird developers should have a chat with Giovanni Coriasco.

Was looking for a extension that could play a sound on a remote computer when my mail computer received a email in a specific folder. I used this extension to execute psexec. Next psexec calls nircmd on my remote computer to play a sound. Works perfect!

Doesn't seem to work at all, the custom sound isn't played, its the default sound each time I receive a new mail, I use latest Thunderbird 31.2.0 and I'm looking for a way to customize the sounds because I got 10 email address with different rank in priority, I have to know which one I get

That's good but on my system it does not work when thunderbird is minimised. I don't know if it is a bug or a feature, but it makes this add-on less useful. If it worked when minimised also, it would get five stars.

It works perfectly for me thunderbird 17.0.7 but I setup only 4 alert lists.
Took me some time to understand how to configure it.

The plug-in is not reliable. Sometimes it will post an alert and many times it will not. Seems to work ok with inbox but not with folders. I am using gmail in imap configuration.

The %enter macro is not listed but is really usefull to introduce line breaks
The extension is really good, just a couple stuff missing, -skins for the notifications
-macro for message preview
-tray custom icon for each notification set

This is a great addon. It's the only working add-on to show new msg alert.
One bug I found is the thunderbird 24.0.1 main window on my Mac OS X 10.7 is not bring to the top when I click the alert box. This happens when I selected 'Open message in current windows' or 'Open Message in a new windows'

If you could add an option to change the colors and possibly make an option for transparency, this add on would be a lot more visually appealing to the eyes than just having notifications pop up as simple white box.

This is a really helpful Add-on which I needed to run an external program upon receipt of certain messages. Great stuff, really pleased.

Very usefull, but ugly designed. Please add the option to change colors, size and design of the message-popups.

I love this extension. There is only one thing I'd like to change. I wish the new messages alert window/popup on the desktop could be bigger or its size configurable. Is there a way to do this or can it be done in the next version? Thanks.
