It would be perfect, if there would be a button to disable all single-key shortcuts with one click: https://github.com/trlkly/dorando-keyconfig/issues/12

Custom Javascript keys no longer work. Initially, adding them at the start they will work, but after restarting the browser, all of the custom keys are dead!

Sorry to come back like this, I did not see any link to the forum in your previous reply.
How do I create a key to for example the account settings? Where can I find the code for the various commands?

I wanted to sign this extension myself, but then I found this addon. Nice! Works as advertised.

Works well in Palemoon, no problems.
+ good outline by developer on the addons page is very welcome
(A lesson for developers of other extensions/addons
+ keeps my key-bindings to a minimum to free up for other extensions and OS global keys.
+ easy to manage other extensions, who overkill with shortcut keys
+ very easy to use ... simple common sense settings even for a dinosaur like me
+ "Options" window keys can be customized via "Keyconfig" item, I disabled the default Ctrl+Shift+F12
+ blue text for custom settings saves having to document my preferences
-- disabled settings by user cannot be identified ... bold font could help
+ reset btn resets the selected "key", thankfully it does not reset the entire list
+ worth a donation ... but where ?

Thank you for your time and effort, very appreciated :applause:

Thank you for the great addon
using FF 50 and it works for me
Btw. I think key configuration should be implemeted in Firefox by default.

I'd give it no stars if I could.

If I could use this add-on, I wouldn't *need* it! I could just remap the key via code. This add-on may abbreviate the task for developers, but it does nothing for regular users.

I need something where I can enter a key that doesn't have a shortcut and give it one without having to learn to code. You know, say, put in "Message > Mark > As Read" in one box and the key I want to use in the other.

I've got many other things in my life that I'm trying to learn. I do not have time or energy to add coding to the list. Any add-on that requires coding is worthless to me.

If you need to code a special key function, you should follow the forum link and ask. You don't need to be a developer to copy and paste some code.

In actuality, the code is just an extra. This is an addon for remapping keyboard shortcuts. The developer just happened to also include the ability to create your own shortcuts with scripts as a bonus.

You may also have luck looking for an addon that is for the specific website you are using. Maybe even look for a GreaseMonkey script. Those functions you mention are not a part of Firefox itself, so this addon is really not designed to handle that.

Finally keyconfig for new versions of Firefox! Thanks! :)

BTW, is there a list of JS functions (objects?) one can use in
keyconfig assignments? I'm an embedded systems programmer, and don't know much about web coding, sorry. :)

Would be better if the window was resizeable. Reply: Tried that, didn't work. I assume there's some conflict with another add-on I'm using, but pretty weird. Other add-ons have resizeable settings windows. Anyway thanks for your work!

A previous user had a problem with the setting window not being resizeable. It should be. They wound up fixing it by restarting their computer and restarting Firefox.

Dorando has given 2 codes that worked in 2012, I define the export shortcut in the old profile, ran it so I had a settings file. In the new profile I defined the import shortcut and ran it against the settings file. I should test it to verify that it still works !
Is it simple to add these 2 keys combinations and their codings in the standard distributed extension ? Does their codes cause a security problem ?
As this wastes 2 keys combinations I was proposing to control them with buttons iun the interface instead of short-cuts keys.

If you wish to create buttons, you'll need to use a different extension. I know that MenuWizard will allow you to make new menu items, but I don't know if there's one for buttons.

I would suggest using the forum I linked in the description if you have questions on how to do things. This place is just for reviews.

after updating to ff 48, keyconfig was unsigned and cannot be enabled.

tried other keybinder extensions but these grabbed focus even though i was typing in address bar, for keys like '1' and '2' for next/previous tab (old habit since Opera 7).

thanks for the update!

Thanks a lot! I have a czech keyboard layout and some features like ctrl+1 to select first tab were originally blocked because we have "+" sign instead of "1". Your addon solved it.

I was starting to think really hard about just using Chrome--well, probably Vivaldi--instead of Firefox. Mozilla are INSANE for not allowing users to customize keys. Agree with dotstar that Firefox is driving away much of its core audience.

I can't believe you got this working on Firefox for Android, too.

Thank you!

dotstar's link has some really useful stuff. I'd love to see a JS recipe for freeing memory (about:memory) via keyconfig...

After the 10th accidental delete or move of email due to hotkeys this literally saved thunderbird for me. I was going to delete it and move to something else.

As Mozilla makes FF more unfriendly to power users with each release, I worried that keyconfig would stop working. Thank you for saving us!

For anyone interested, here is a list of crazy cool shortcuts that work in keyconfig:
