Nice feature. Offers a lot of customizations, although it could use some UI enhancements. Also, an auto page would be nice ("Most visited sites" like in Chrome).

I love Speed Dial on my Fox v.7.01. But one thing, I'm very careful about browser cookies, selectively culling (protecting and removing) with the CookieCuller extension - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/cookieculler/
Using that, I keep noticing new cookies from sites I haven't visited since last removing their cookies. Even 3rd party cookies such as scorecardresearch. If I clear such sites' dial panels in SD, it doesn't happen. Conclusion: some sites are setting cookies through just the SD panel loading.

I think this is a very good addon. I used Opera for about 6 months after one release of Firefox had some cpu bug when playing flash videos. From there I found out the usefulness of speed dial and this is the closest thing in Firefox that mimicks Opera + more.

There are alot of options with this plugin, but I don't really use stuff like dial groups. I do, however, like to know what my dial pages look like, so I want the pages to be refreshed periodically. For some reason, the box to enable period refresh will not accept. This is only for my desktop running Ubuntu - my Win7 computer does it fine. Note: The OK box will not accept. Everything else pretty much works, I just can't confirm, I have to cancel, and it really just sucks. Please fix :) and thanks for your work.

I've used speeddial for several years and find it is a great way to organize websites I frequent.

I use it for bookmarks, but it is a little bit clumsy for that use and doesn't integrate with FireFox bookmarks. I'd really like to see speeddial have the option to work with the Firefox bookmark system.

In this scenario, speeddial would be a thumbnail GUI for the Firefox bookmarks. You could add bookmarks using the existing Firefox tools or do it from speeddial.

In any case, speeddial would display the bookmarks hierarchically with thumbnails and it would be able to add, delete, update, and move bookmarks.

There is a new add-on called ViewMarks, which I will try, but I'd love the feature in the tried and true SpeedDial addon.

by default speed dial captures the whole website as a scrollable thumbnail (try scroll your middle mouse over the thumbnails). Therefore, everytime speed dial is called up, it starts loading dozens of such large image. The solution is to crop the thumbnail to a reasonable size. There are three ways of doing this: Right click on a thumbnail -> Edit ->

1/ Layout -> No scaling
2/ Crop -> Fill in the desired numbers or Open crop slector (you may also want to apply the above solution to make your thumbnail completely not scrollable)
3/ Basic -> Make image from -> Browse to a logo or something you like

Can't understand this speed dial, I take it this is not the guy who did the oiginal, or what happened to right click in a web page and select add to speed dial?? Or was that Fast Dial? You can't seriously expect people to copy and paste from the address bar into every individual speed dial window?? Paalease
Real pain in the a$$ to use, in fact to hell with it, I'm not using it!! Will try Fast Dial and see if that is the one I used to use.

You can drag websites straight into Speed Dial. You just need to use Tab Mix Plus to enable mouse gestures to select tabs only on the up click. This allows you to drag the address icon to Speed Dial.

Sorry, but I have to give this one star. The Dolphin browser version makes it very easy to add websites to Speed Dial by simply holding your finger in the address bar and you then get that as one of the options that comes up. To not have this in the Firefox version is not acceptable.

I love the program, but it seems like ever since Firefox was upgraded to 7.0 and above, the program takes a long time to load the thumbnails and the logo every time I open up a new speed dial window. When I run Firefox with the speed dial as the default window, it opens up almost instantaneously. The problem only occurs if I create another speed dial on a new tab (with the original speed dial tab still open). Even after reducing the thumbnails to 100x100, it still takes a while to load them (30 to 60 seconds). You can see it go from one thumbnail to the next per second. I have refresh turned off for all the thumbnails, so it has nothing to do with refreshing the thumbnail.

Finally, I just installed the older Firefox 6.0.2 version and everything is fast again! I don't know what happened, but something must have changed to cause the problems on the newer Firefox versions.

it is very useful addon. but it lacks some features, one of them is search engine bar into the speed dial tab. if it add a google search to enable users to search google from speed dial page, it will be fantastic.

Just upgraded to the new version and I can no longer specify refresh rate in the "default" settings when try make changes in Add-ons Manager . I chose "Change", specify a value, press OK and nothing happens. But it works when I try to make changes in Speed Dial Groups.

I really loved speeddial for so many reasons but you must admit that the design and functionalities of speeddial for firefox are now clearly outdated. Just look at speeddial for google chrome and you'll see what speeddial should look like in 2011!
Come on guys, Firefox is not dead yet, keep improving its best tools for the loyal users.
