Oh, nice plugin. The only major things missing from it are 'one click adding of calendars' (minor) and caching to speed things up (major).

Johan Hellstan: I'm not sure why I'm posting this to help someone who is so intemperate about a free add-on to a free piece of software being used to access a free web service.... but here goes.

Google changed the text. You now want 'calendar settings'. To get to the calendar settings click the little down arrow next to the calendar you want.

You'll see some icons, right click to copy the XML link.

I had some compatibility issues switching to version 0.5, the calendar that I created using the old version of the provider is now unusable and I had to create another calendar (the synchronization, by the way, worked perfectly), it's just that I had to create another calendar...

@ Johan Hellstan:
if you need some help installing just visit http://bfish.xaedalus.net/?p=239 there you'll find the procedure explained step by step and with screenshots

As the previous reviewer mentions, reminders are not working properly with this latest build for any calendar synced with google. There is also a 10 minute default reminder which cannot be removed -- although at the moment it is unclear whether this is a google issue or a thunderbird or a provider issue. all i can say for certain is that the 10 minute reminder cannot be removed from google calendar's site even with thunderbird disabled -- this however could still be caused by provider giving google a corrupted reminder of some sort.

Further information -- I can confirm that a newly created calendar does not face this issue -- there is something wrong with reminders on shared calendars -- and it may very well have nothing to do with provider access. I can also confirm that if you move an event to a non-shared calendar, the default incorrect reminder goes away.

Great Add-on.
We are 2 persons sharing a calendar.
There are minor bugs, but I can recommend it!

I am sorry to report this... I love Google Provider and Lightning... BUT... After installing Lightning 0.9 with Google Calendar Provider 0.5, the reminder alerts do not go off anymore for Google Calendar events after switching views (Calendar to Mail). They are removed from the calendar in Lightning, but they
are still active in Google. Home reminders alerts still work as expected.

All this worked perfectly well before upgrading to Lightning 0.9/Google Provider 0.5 (I have a laptop PC with Lightning 0.8 and Google Calendar Provider 0.4, and everything works as expected there).

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Go to Calendar, Update an event that is a Google Calendar event, set a
Reminder, save it.
2. Everything seems to work, a small bell is shown in the calendar page.
3. Switch the view to Mail.
4. Switch the view to Calendar.
5. All the small bells have disappeared! Home calendar events still have the
bell, though. It only affects events that are synchronized with a Google
Calendar.
Actual Results:
All the small bells have disappeared! Home calendar events still have the bell,
though. It only affects events that are synchronized with a Google Calendar.

Expected Results:
The reminders should still be there. Now they are all set to "No reminder" in
Thunderbird. However, they have been accurately updated in Google Calendar
(they still have the reminder set there, if you go and check them on the Google
Calendar web site).

This behavior happens after upgrading. I mean that the Google Calendar settings
were previously introduced. In fact, everything else seems to work pretty well
with the integration between Lightning and Google Calendar. It is just the
reminders that are no longer working. It is annoying since you rely on
reminders to be aware of events and tasks. Reminders are a MAJOR FEATURE of
calendaring software!

I don't know if the problem is with Lightning 0.9, with the Provider 0.5, or with Thunderbird itself... but the combination renders everything much less valuable...

Please see if you can fix this. Thanks a lot!!!!

Any chance to add an option about what alert will be syncronized with google? I find pop ups quite useless (personally) and would like to have the alerts syncronized with both mail and sms. It's an option on google calendar, but this extension doesn deal with it.
Other than that... thanks, great extension!

I love this extension so much, just wish I had found it earlier. Long may it continue.

Very usefull addon but still some bugs. f.example if u dont enter the right login and password the first time. The addon will keep asking u for it. Something must be wrong with password integration. So be carefull with that. Asside from that real nice addon. Keep up the good work!!!

This will be fixed with calendar 0.9 / provider 0.5. A new concept to allow disabling calendars completely kicks in, when you cancel the password dialog then the calendar is disabled.

Well done but it lacks SMS notification selection, the MOST important feature in Google Calendar. As a result, not so useful as you can expect.

Awesome add-on. 5 out of 5.

I recently did a reinstall of Ubuntu and installed lightening from repository and it did not allow me to use this add-on.

I uninstalled repository lightening, installed lightening from Thunderbird add-ons, and voila! Provider for Google Calendar worked perfectly.

Please do not hound developer telling him there are bugs. It is the way I installed lightening!

Thank you Phillipp! Great Job!
