The extension acquires the latest Symantec viral threat level, and is a link to Symantec viral threat level homepage. Which clearly defines the current threat.
...not always a necessity.

I'm not sure if it really accomplishes much but it sure is nice window dressing for my tool bar. Looks cool and might actually work.
