Great solution for RTL and bidirectional composition. It should be built in Thunderbird itself.

Works great, and is the only REAL solution for BiDi (right-to-left) messages.
The only pitfall is the fact that it sometimes causes TB to revert the text to 'Variable width' instead of using the setting that was set under 'Options > Composition > HTML > Font'. It's a bit irritating that when you go to the end of a line (press 'End'), the font changes.
But all-in-all, an excellent work!
What you describe seems to be Thunderbird's behavior rather than ours - I don't touch the font that way. But please file a bug at www.mozdev.org/bugs/ and try to provide me with instructions on how to reproduce this bug.

This is an essential plugin or rather should not be a plugin but should be rolled into core and maintained within Thunderbird. I have just upgraded to 3.1.2 only to find out the plugin is out of date and my Thunderbird again does not support RTL.
The next upgrade for Thunderbird should really not launch without a built in RTL support.
And thanks again for the BiDi UI team for filling this whole with a plugin until it's taken over by the core Thunderbird team.
If people write the Mozilla Messaging people with this request, it might happen... see also:

שלום רב. אני לא מצליח לפתוח או להתקין את התוסף..ולצערי סובל מאוד מזה שאני לא יכול לשלב עברית ואנגלית ב "ציפרעם". יש לי מערכת הפעלה חלונות XP . כשאני מנסה להפעיל את התוסף הוא לא מזהה מה פותח את הקובץ של התוסף עם סיומת xpi נא עזרתכם..

Works exceptionally well in most cases.
The only issue I'm aware of is that when you reply to an email that was written in Microsoft Outlook in Hebrew (not sure about which Outlook version), BiDi seems to get confused about the caret position, but that's a rather minor issue.

in Lighting, special characters, that were originally wrote on a mac were replaced by ??.
Now it works.
This should definitively be included in the standard version of Tbird.
few people try it but it's worth it !

This is a must-have if you compose mail in RtL languages (Arabic, Hebrew, Farsi, ...); it also makes reading BiDi mail much easier.
