OxyBird2
Wurdearring: 3 fan de 5 stjerren
This theme seems to have been abandoned for some time. Fortunately the more recently released Oxygenate theme -- built on this foundation -- is actively maintained and updated.

Nice, clean integration of Thunderbird & Lightning with my KDE 4.8.3 desktop. I've been using a self-patched version of Oxybird2, and I'm delighted to see _finally_ a KDE theme built for T-bird 12. Fixes minor annoyances found in (abandoned?) Oxybird2. Hooray! Thank you. THANK YOU!
Dizze beoardieling giet oer in eardere ferzje fan de add-on (2.2).World Weather+
Wurdearring: 2 fan de 5 stjerren
With add-on compatibility checking disabled, this extension can be installed in Thunderbird 7.0.1. However, the panel displays only a 5-day forecast, not the 9-day forecast pictured in the add-on description. Furthermore, captions below the weather icons show Sunny, Partly Cloudy, Snowy, etc. but not the name of the day.
The panel is placed at the bottom of the folders list, and no provision is made for moving it to a different location. I use the Lightning add-on with the Today Pane appearing to the right of the message panel. I would prefer strongly to have the option to place the weather panel at the bottom of the Today Pane.
Alternately the weather panel could be hidden normally and made to pop up by clicking on the status bar icon. Again, no such option is offered. I like the idea of this extension, but the implementation leaves much to be desired. Uninstalling.
World Weather

This obsolete Thunderbird add-on has been replaced by World Weather+. Strangely WW+ appears only in search results for Sunbird add-ons. However, the description names both Thunderbird and Sunbird. WW+ installs and runs in Thunderbird 7.0.1.

OxyBird2

I've been using this theme with Thunderbird on KDE4 for a couple of years now. I like the clean, integrated look it provides, but it's not altogether complete. For example, the message list displays no icons for read and unread messages - only for messages replied to or forwarded. All-in-all, I'd give it a four star rating.
Unfortunately, a version compatible with Thunderbird 5 is unavailable from Mozilla Add-ons. For that you'll have to go to https://github.com/merike/oxybird2/tree/master/oxybird-linux-2.1. Ignore "oxybird-linux-2.1.jar"; it's not a valid Java archive file. Instead you'll have to download the source file.
After you've unzipped the source file archive, locate the valid .jar file in sub-folder oxybird-linux-2.1. Curiously, the theme shows up as "OxyBird2 (version) 3.0" in the Add-ons Manager for Thunderbird 5. Worth the effort? Sure, but it brings my overall rating down to three stars.

Google Contacts

BACK UP YOUR ADDRESS BOOK FIRST! Cannot recommend this one. After installation, I found bizarre duplicate entries in the local address book. Deleting them only made matters worse, so I uninstalled the extension and restored the address book from backup. Instead I'm using gContactSync (available in alpha on Mozilla Add-ons; latest development releases on external server).

So simple and so useful. Allows instant recognition of senders even when their message doesn't provide a "friendly name". Glad I found this clever little tool!

Very nicely done. Allows Thunderbird to take on the look of a native KDE4 application. I'm extremely pleased. Thank you very much for your efforts!

Very nicely done! It works well for me on openSUSE 10.3 with KDE 3.5.7. I'm anxious to try it with openSUSE 11.0 and KDE4 (after US national holiday).
I hope you will consider a companion theme for Thunderbird 3, which debuts later this year. :>)
Tango Icons for Thunderbird

Thanks very much for the version .7.0 update for Thunderbird 2.0.0.0. The job is very nicely done, and now T-bird looks fully integrated with the KDE Tango desktop. Hooray!
