This is a simple add-on, using the Experimental API. Unfortunately, the Experimental API lives close to the Thunderbird core, so the permissions are scary. But, there are only 19 lines of code which you can inspect, since XPI files are really ZIP files.

Updated the max version number to keep up with Thunderbird releases.
