This was an indispensable module (a 5 star one) - I had dozens of ready to use templates to drop into emails. However, since an update to Thunderbird, all of them have disappeared. I've tried saving new ones, but they disappear after restarting the computer...
Not cool! I'm going to have to disable this module now. There hasn't been an update in over a year, so doubt anything will change any time soon.

Bogobogo's workaround is working. Nevertheless the XML master-template was obviously corrupted! (???)
I did a binary comparison of the XML master-template file stored in \profile\quicktext\templates.xml with an older backup template.
Both files were equal except for two additional leading bytes at the top of the template file from my backup. (Bytes: FF FE)
If you want to restore your possibly corrupted Quicktext template I recommend to open your template with HEX editor and add two additional leading bytes "FF" "FE" to the file.
It worked for me.
I hope there will be a bug fix of Quicktext as soon as possible.

There are multiple bug reports. Author does not responde for months.

Used to work great but after buying the pro version the developer stopped replying to emails when the programme stopped working. - edit: This is now an abandoned project - no updates and no replies to emails.

Coming from OE I was missing 'insert text from file' but this addon does this and more. It's much more flexible and offers various templates from drop boxes in message window. Works with 31.4.0. Many thanks!

For some time the keyword completion with TAB key adds a superfluous tab character after the replaced text which is a bit annoying. I just found a workaround here, it may help others having the same problem:

..... Sometimes the shortcut control does not work. Sometimes it does. Also When I make a Hi template the word [[cursor]] appears instead of flashing cursor. If i click shortcut word Hi and my spacebar the cursor flashes.
Am i doing something wrong?

Just installed, great stuff, really usefull.
The only little missing thing that could make a superstar of this add-on: the possibility to attach files to templates.

thanks for this usefull Addon.
In futher i try to use only opensource, so i have to change my emailprogram.
In Thunderbird i miss a multi signature tool.
Because i write emails in englisch / german and both also for buissnes or privat.
With Quicktext i get the solution opensorce.
I use it to add one of my signatures.

This addon has saved me so much time. I am a musician and this has allowed me to quickly add links to our website, descriptions of our sound needs, addresses, recommendations, etc. Anything I might type over and over again, I use Quicktext instead. Ah. Thank you, WizKid.
