Cant give less than one star. Starts but never completes. Win 10 Tbird 38.5.1. Tried on two different machines win 7 and win 10. Selected address book as per other reviews.

One would think that after installing a Thunderbird add on and restarting Thunderbird that there would be some way of finding and using the add on. That is not the case with "Duplicate Contact Manager." Nothing in any of the menus points toward it nor is there any kind of icon to click on to run it. It has no presence whatsoever on Thunderbird after it is installed. Don't waste your bandwidth on downloading this POS.

The interface does not provide any sort of progress indicator. This knocks off rating point for ANY software.

Please write that it adds a menu item in the address book view. Otherwise it's hard to understand what the heck to do with the add-on. Thank you.

I am still using this plugin with TB 31.4.0. It is working perfectly. I just had to increase the maxVersion in the install.rdf file inside the xpi(zip) archive to something higher than the actual version (I chose 99.*). Why is this plugin not officially compatible with current versions? I see no compatibility issues at all.

I have a lot of entries where I have the same contact name but different e-mail addresses (contacts with similar names and contacts with more than one e-mail address). The add-on is flagging these as duplicates every time it is run. It would be really helpful if there was some sort of check-box to indicate to the add-on that these are acceptable duplications and not to flag them up in the future.
Apart from that it is a very helpful piece of work.

Very good indeed. Thank you Marian! I agree with others users about instructions on how to use it. I found out just by applying logic. Once you install it you have to restart Thunderbird. Then go to Adress Book / Tools/ Find and manage duplicates. Hope it helps.

Funktioniert sehr gut, im Gegensatz zur Beschreibung auf dieser Seite auch mit neuen Thunderbird-Versionen und mit zwei verschiedenen Adressbüchern.
An den Entwickler: die Anweisung in duplicateContactsManager.css "description" bitte in "#explanation description" ändern. Zur Zeit wird das untere Fenster des Adressbuchs beeinflusst, und zwar so, dass zwischen allen Zeilen ein großer Abstand erzeugt wird durch "padding: 10px".

И было бы не плохо что бы можно было бы объединять контакты, а не только выбирать один из двух.
А если еще синхронизацию сделаете по протоколу carddav, цены бы не было

I was merging some of my duplicate contacts when I saw that some of my contacts have more than 2 email addresses.
Please add a "Third Email" & "Forth Email" fields when finding and managing duplicates in Duplicate Contact Manager addon.

Thank you! This app saved me hours of stupid copy-paste work. Worked perfectly in the newest TB version on my PC. The duplicate contacts can be reviewed and edited manually if needed. Waited so long for such an app. The only two drawbacks: Runs a bit slow (a few minutes for 1000 contacts) and the window is too small and not resizable.

Wieso wird so eine App überhaupt hier gelisted?
Nach doppelten E-Mail Adressen kann die App nicht suchen und auch nicht löschen. Mann kann allerdings nach irgendwelchen doppelten Worten offensichtlich in den Namen suchen. Dann werden auch gleich fast alle Kontakte als doppelt gelistet obwohl sie natürlich alle unterschiedliche E-Mail Adressen haben. Für mich und vermutlich für die allermeisten völlig wertlos. Null Sterne.

Looks good, but doesn't seem to correctly remove duplicate contacts when contacts are being accessed from a remote addressbook via Fruux (SoGo Connector). As this was the reason for downloding/trying this add-on, unfortunately it didn't work for my use-case.
FWIW manually deleting from this 'remote addressbook' works fine, and the addon deletes locally but somehow when I re-synchronise, the deleted contacts re-appear.
I would be happy to re-test, dear developer, if you make some changes to address this problem.
