I want the behaviour, to restore previous instance when I start firefox, while beeing active the whole time to start quicker. I made it with the extension "minimize on start and close".

A great functionality added on Firefox. I like the idea behind it, I like how the multitasking was made possible.

it could work great, but when right-clicking on the icon the context menu appears very far from the mouse pointer.
It's stuck along the screen side border regardless how far the thunderbird icon is from it.
For the record I am using w8 with taskbar on top.
Also the "get all new messages" command appears to be always grayed out.

if you have memoryfox adjust settings or window will keep opening from tray when another application opened

Sadly, this addon is outdated and it lacks update support. This and CCleaner are incompatible and mess up the layout settings.

I've used this add-on for a long time and it works great on both Linux and Windows. I like keeping Thunderbird open in the background but I hate having it clutter my taskbar.
Those with issues on Ubuntu. This is not an issue with the plugin itself. The Unity desktop (Ubuntu's custom desktop) doesn't use the traditional "Tray" that other Linux OSes use and so the plugin can't put an icon in Unity's tray even though it keeps running in the background.

this addon should have an option that when you close firefox from top right x, closes all tabs and opens a blank tab and makes firefox stay in the tray that way. so firefox will keep running at the background without displaying any webpage you were viewing. it will just stand-by for a new session.

This has absolutely no effect on Ubuntu 12.04 with Unity, except that it adds a "Minimize to Tray" menu item under the "File" menu and hides all indications that the program is running.
This ought to be stated in the description.

Seit Thunderbird 24 funktioniert bei eingeschaltetem minimize to tray die Rechtschreibprüfung, ab dem Moment wenn man es ins Tray minimiert hat nicht mehr, auf 3 unterschiedlichen Rechnern getestet. Schalte ich minimize aus, funktioniert es wieder.

Doesn't always work in Win 8
I'm using Thunderbird 17.0.8
If Thunderbird starts closed in the tray
Then I double click on it
It didn't open, it goes to the task bar
If you click it there, it doesn't open
I think if you right-click it to close, it goes back to the tray
Something like this
You have to close it, and re-open the program, then it works.

This addon works very well in Ubuntu. However I still have a small requirement for linux:
When firefox is minimized to tray and click the icon to restore the firefox window, can you make it restore back to the original position of the firefox window? Right now I have two monitors in Ubuntu 12.10, I usually use firefox in the extended monitor, after I minimize the firefox and restore it, the firefox window always goes back the main monitor. This is a little annoying. If you can improve it, I really appreciate it.

Be aware that there is one issue which arises when (as in my case) you want to close a blank message and have the 'Minimize ti System Tray on minimize or close' option selected. If you are in compose mode there APPEARS to be no way to cancel the Write window. It became apparent to me when I accidentally put something down on my desk and did multiple clicks on the 'Write' button!... Cough cough...

The Download links says that it works for linux, but does not seems to work on LinuxMint 15 [XFCE].
Or May be im not able to use it, please help. I used it under windows, and want it here too.
