Works quite well. Thanks for maintaining this addon (as a continuation of Download Statusbar).
On a side note, anyone having issues with 8.0.0+ not showing the downloads bar at all, might want to install at least version 8.2 (from the complete version history as long as it hasn't been reviewed by mozilla yet). That should fix the bar, at least it did for me.
Hi harl windwolf,
Thank you so much for your review and kind words.
What kind of problem did yıou have about downloads bar?

Firstly,I want to say I use,and quite like this extension, and the fact it doesn't require a restart every time it's updated.
Having said that,I'm genuinely intrigued as to why it has to be updated so often if it's 'Ready for use',and not merely being used as a public beta test.
Genuine question, rather than a myopic criticism.
Update:- Following the prompt reply & (perfectly logical) explanation from Szalgiris, you may notice there's now another star twinkling up there in the virtual sky.
I honestly didn't realise there were so many different versions of FF out there these days, which have to accounted for when coding extensions.
Many thanks again Szalgiris.
Hi Diogenes,
Thank you so much for your review and kind words.
The add-on supports Firefox 24 ESR, Firefox 27, Firefox 28, Firefox 29 Australis, Firefox 31 Nightly and Pale Moon. Because add-on supports such a wide range of browsers and each browser user base has its own requirements, the add-on needs to be updated frequently to provide them what they request as soon as possible.
While I respect and understand some people want updates in a month or so, I personally chose coding and releasing in a fast manner so that user can benefit the new features as they are available.
If you do not want the updates, you can go to Add-ons page and Disable Automatic Updates for the add-on and manually "Check for Updates" to install add-on updates whenever you want.

I used to use the old Download Statusbar extension, and I was looking to re-install it on a clean install, but it doesn't work with the newest Firefox, so I looked for a suitable replacement.
I came across this one and found that I like the clean colors and presentation, and the colored graph showing download statistics especially appeals to the old nerd in me.
Really I just wanted a Download Statusbar clone, but this went above with the extra additions. I would recommend this one.

An option to turn off MD5 hashing of the downloads is needed, as it takes up resources even for those who don't want it, especially on big files.
Also a setting to change the default hash function would be good
Hi TheAssassin,
Thank you so much for your review and suggestions. I added them in my to do list and will include the options as soon as possible.

I've been using a download statusbar for a long while. They just can't keep pace with Firefox upgrades. This one works like a charm for versions 26+. Thanks.

Hi omji,

Notifications are displayed by Firefox. You can disable them by below tutorial.

"Great add-on, but... by Lochagós on March 7, 2014 ·
Really useful add-on for those like me that deal with lots of downloads per session. But there's a minor issue, though. Everytime that the add-on updates, all the recently downloaded files I haven't yet cleared from the library suddenly pop back up on the status bar, which isn't a glitch or bug per se but it can be fairly annoying because, since the add-on doesn't need Firefox to restart for the update to work, this can happen pretty much at any moment. I'll admit though I don't exactly know whether it's something directly related to the add-on or if it's something on my end.
This review is for a previous version of the add-on (7.2.0)."
I'm still having this issue, although it's nice now to know that it's from updates. Or at least I assume it is because it happened today and you updated today....
Hi,
Thank you so much for your review.
Install v.7.4.5, Clear downloads and restart Firefox. After v.7.4.5 you wont encounter this bug.

finished (100%) .exe files do not show their icon ...
take a look at my screenshot..

Again , thank you very much...
Hi Rivenson,
Thank you so much for your feedback and screenshots.
The icons are determined by Firefox and they are generic. In other words Firefox will not show the real icon of the downloaded exe file but a generic icon for the type of the download. As it seems for your OS theme, Firefox places generic white rectangular exe icons next to the file name. I know it seems to be empty but that is icon that your OS theme sets for generic exe icon and those icons are different for each OS. You may want to change OS theme or skins if you do not like current white icons.

Thank you for your modification (ver.7.2.0)
I tried to download some files using "Flash Video Downloader".
Download Status Bar appears and does good job.
Again, thank you very very much for your prompt work.

the buttons on either end of the bar are coded with background images marked important in the CSS. this makes it so the end user or other extensions can't readily modify the look of the buttons to blend in. My browser has a dark blue theme with white fonts, and the gray buttons with black text look terrible. Could you remove the important designations so the CSS can be overridden?

It gets better and better. Great developer. Now even without restarts if you get an update or want to install this great addon.
when clearing from download status bar. the download icon in statusbar still stays blue. can you fix that if you clear it from the download status bar. it gets also clears the blue icon to the normal grey icon. thank you! see attached screenshot

Hi worldsdream,
Thank you so much for your review and kind words.
The blue button belongs to Firefox. So changes made in the add-on can not affect the Firefox button. If you do not want to see it, you may want to hide it by right clicking on it, choosing Customize and dragging the blue icon in panel and save it.

What a superb piece of work. Mozilla should try to get Szalgiris to work for them :-) And they should certainly replace their download stuff with this design!

a must have add-on for firefox! thank you very much for the work you put into this great extension :)
i have one little feature request:
it would be very useful if one could specify default download-folders per file extension (for example a folder for jpg files, another one for mp3s and so on...)
Hi blubserl,
Thank you so much for your review and kind words. Yes such a feature is in my to-do list and it will be available in future releases.
