It seems that FireTray's problem of restoring Firefox on the wrong desktop when Compiz is used, has disappeared with newer systems like Debian Squeeze (and perhaps, Ubuntu Karmic). I downgraded from 0.2.5 (dev version) to 0.2.3 and everything is all right :)

For people on older or LTS versions of distros, like Fedora8, CentOS4/5, this extension will not work as it was linked with newer version of C++ library than the one shipped with that older distros. Solution is either wait for maintainer to provide newer and correctly linked binary (maybe, statically linked, or compiled on older distro like CentOS4), or to build correct lib yourself.
I had provided full details of build procedure here: http://code.google.com/p/firetray/issues/detail?id=58#c14

Great job! I recently dropped KDE 4.3 because there are still too many bugs for me to use it in production (specifically, printing from _all_ KDE apps is now so thoroughly screwed up that KDE no longer is usable for anyone that has something to print--complete regression from the excellent printing system in KDE 3.5).
This gives Iceowl and Icedove the exact features that caused me to use KDE in the first place--quick and easy access to Kontact and Kmail with built-in notifications while they were minimized to the system tray. Thank-you for the great add-on. (Running on a mixed Debian Squeeze/Sid)

Works like a charm on Jaunty !
However, do you know a command line that would unhide thunderbird from tray when using firetray ?
That is because I'm using a bash script that checks whether thunderbird is running before launching it, and I'd like it to unhide thunderbird if already running...

I have a problem with Firetray 0.2.3 (32bit from the above link) using 64-bit Ubuntu 9.10. TB always restores to desktop 3 after clicking on the icon in the tray. There is no 64bit version of 0.2.3 on Firetray's homepage
Installing version 0.1.11 - 64 bit fixes this problem but you loose some advanced settings as a result of moving back a version. Basic notifications work correctly so it is still very usable!

It is a great addon, because you can start FF and Thunderbird minimized. Yet, there remain two problem: In Ubuntu-Distros Thunderbird won't start minimized. And in ubuntu karmic, it makes firefox 3.5 crash. For those interested, here I filed a bug:

Can developers please post version0.1.11 as separate add-on, "FireTray-old" or something? Version 0.2.3 does not work on RHEL/CentOS 5.x systems (i386) but 0.1.1 works perfectly.
I have 0.1.11 saved on my HDD, so whey forget about it and update 0.1.11 to 0.2.3 by accident, I am able to revert it, but I think many can not. It is not good that only tray add-on for Thunderbird on Linux works only on some systems.
